Ok, say I am playing £1,2 nl, the game has only just started we have played less than one orbit when I get dealt 99 on the big blind. UTG+2 makes it £8. There is one caller. The raiser has £200, the caller has £100' i have £200. I flat call. The pot is £25.

Flop is 7,8, 10 rainbow.

I check

Initial raiser bets £25

The caller calls, the pot is £75

What is the best plan of action in this situation?

Original raiser looks very strong with his sizing so unless I had reason to believe he'd fold overpairs (not something I'd attribute to an unknown) I'm flatting here.

If we could fold out overpairs it would obviously be a fist pump raise because our equity + FE against a short stacked donks range here is excellent.

Call flop, C/F a blank turn.

I agree.

We can easily be behind at the moment and I would not expect an unknown to fold overpairs. Our draw is also NOT strong enough to C/R IMO. Having 88 on 567r board is much stronger and having 87 there is even better.

I agree with above and I will go a step nittier and say that folding to the flop bet if you respect your opponent is not wrong either because he probably won't pay you much if your straight completes.

Chasing OESDs is much better when you hold two to the straight in your hand.

+1 That's exactly what I was about to type. Without a read that one of the villains will call with anything worse than a chop when the straight completes I think folding flop is probably optimal.

i would fold or ship it otf (probably fold), you have about 16% on making your straight ott an V doesnt seem to have a hand with which he slows down the next card unless a scary card like the J or 6 hits - shipping would give him a hard decision if he is a thinking player in some way and you have still a lot of outs for making the best hand.
