Hi All first time posting here, forgive any newbie mistakes. I am new(sort of) to live poker after being away 10 years and being a LHE guy.
1/2 NL 300 max. 8 player table
Villain and I roughly equal stacks, about 350. He has topped off a couple of times and has come back. Aggressive, seems very solid. He was BTN to my BB. Never called from the BTN, raise, 3 bet or fold. I have raised more than most, can't remember how many times I had 3 bet if any. We had been playing 2-3 hours or so. I am sure he saw me as tight old guy.
Hand:
Hero is BB JsJd
2 limpers. BTN raises to 9.
H raises to 30, limpers fold, BTN calls.
$65 in pot
FLOP is 10 7 4 r
I bet 30 or 35 BTN calls. Bad bet? I am starting to worry about playing for my stack OOP with pocket jacks.
~125-135 in pot
Turn is
As
Hero?
Thanks

if you're worried about the pot getting too big for your hand, start by checking the flop. this board whiffs you a lot so if you check villain will often do the betting for you with a very wide range. you also keep your range nebulous instead of face up.
e.g. if you checked this flop and called a reasonable bet, this turn will often go check/check because villain will be worried you have AK. now that you're here, if you check turn your hand is pretty face up as JJ-KK putting you in a potentially bad spot.
against straightforward loose passives, its better to just value bet. against thinking players there is more value in withholding information they can use against you.
