Hello, first post here, been a lurker under different names. Mohegan Sun 1/1 game on Friday night. Hero is up to $260 from max buy in $100. Playing tight/solid. The only big hand the villain has seen me play I raised aces, got three callers, bet the flop and folded the turn to a huge donk bet on a very wet board. I didn't show.
Villain is new to the table- been there about a half hour from a broken game. Up to $250. Have only seen him raise a couple times, and take it down. 30ish, headphones, seems like a solid player that knows his way around he casino (went over to chat with players in the bigger games).
Hero is on the button with 2d, 2h. 5 limps to hero who limps. Villain in BB pumps it to 10. One caller (older Chinese guy giving money away). Everyone else folds. Being deep and likely to get paid if I hit the set, I call.
Flop is A spa, Q hearts, 2 spa. Bingo. Villain bets $25 into a pot of $32 ish. Chinese guy folds, I call.
Turn is the 4 of spades. He hesitates a beat and tosses in a $25 chip. This is where things went wrong. In retrospect, I wish I called turn, called river---> maybe results oriented. I raised him $45 more. My thinking was to charge an AK with the king of spades type hand. And if he pushed...throw up and most likely let it go.
He thought for a sec and pushed. I am afraid of AA and QQ way more than a flush, but KQ of spades is possible as well. I'm ahead of AQ and mayyyyybe AK with the king of spades. He knows I'm tight/solid, and showing a ton of strength. Made me think I am beat that he is willing to shove. 150 more to call. Anyone find a fold?
I'm fine with the limp pre, then the call of the small raise. Raise the flop though. A TON of turn cards you don't want to see. Plenty of worse hands will call your flop raise.
AP, you're now in an awkward position on the turn because of his super small bet. He bet, what, 1/3 pot in turn. It could be a draw or could be a VB with the nuts. I can't necessarily fault you for raising, as I might do the same. But you would have much more information had you have raised the flop.
It really looks like he has Kx or Qx of spades. Raise the flop next time, that's when you had the best hand.
Oh, btw, you said V knows your tight/solid? You guys have previous history? Or you basing this solely on the 30 minutes of play in this session?
Definitely should have raised flop to charge both draws and define his range.
As played after he 4 bet shoves you on turn I would fold. Villains really only do this with a made hand at 1/2. Baby flushes are a HUGE part of his range here.
Save your 150 and find a better spot to get your money in.
