First Hand in BB with AA First Hand in BB with AA

1/2 NL

Hero: BB ($200) - Early 30s, TAG
V1: SB ($175) - Male - Late 40s
V2: Dealer ($200) - Female - Late 60s

My first hand of the day and I wake up to AA in Big Blind.
Everyone folds to dealer:

v2 calls $2
v1 raises to $15
Hero calls $15
v2 calls $15

Flop ($45): J35
v1 bets $45
v2 gather chips and is about to call out of position
Hero says something, then tanks and shoves all in ($185)
v2 folds
v1 calls

Turn: A
River: 8

Hero shows AA, v1 mucks

My question is should I have flatted the $45 knowing that v2 was about to call out of position to get more value?

If I do flat, I don't think v1 would bet/shove on the turn with an overcard and 3 card flush/str8.

I also don't think v2 would call my shove on the turn.

*v2 did not have a flush draw.*

Any thoughts? Thanks in advanced...

lol, is this a level??? seriously come on flat? and ur question is should u have flatted flop?? and y r u telling us its ur first hand lol... those things dont matter, shes a woman, that doesn't matter... u r making a huge mistake jus calling preflop... thats what u need to get from this thread... and no never flat and let that guy in easy... cuz if that player calls ur usually beat... what if theyre smooth calling u when u think ur "Maximizing Value" Do u keep betting when that player is calling???

Yes, this thread is real. BTW, this is also a poker room with lots of older (50+ y.o) locals.

Thanks for the info:

In the future, this is (now) obviously a 3bet pre and shove on the flop...

I like the call preflop if the bad beat jackpot is at $50 million.

BTW, LMAO @ "hero says something" Do you not know what you said and why did you tank? Good stuff. You should have tank called preflop.

The size that the BBJP would have to be in order to justify changing your play as a result is much larger than any BBJP I have ever seen.

So. IN almost all stituations you should be 3betting there.

After that, is there a question?

Are you known to the other players? If not, I'd shove preflop (HOC even recommends this). My second choice would be to raise to an amount where I could simply shove the flop (villain will put us on AK a lot here), so something like $80. My third choice would be a normalish 3x raise. Your decision of flatting is better than folding, but I still hate it. It's our very first hand of the day, and (I'm assuming) no one has a clue about us; they'll call large bets without reads cuz obviously we're just trying to buy the pot / push people around.

Just read the reason for not 3betting preflop: don't do that. The only time a BBJ should be taken into consideration, IMO, is when we flop a BBJ qualifying hand (in which case I would always check/call the flop in order to let as many people as possible possibly catch up on the turn to a potential BBJ hand).

Postflop looks fine, IMO. If she's willing to call a big bet, she might be willing to call a shove. Plus we don't really want to give draws 3:1.
