$1/2 home game

Villain is LAG who loves to raise his straddles light pre-flop. Has been caught bluffing this session.

My image: TAG - I've been trying to keep pots small with a single pair and wouldn't have bet $60 on the turn with one pair, but I doubt my opponents are that perceptive.

Hero ($500) is BB with 76
Villain (UTG+1) ($750) straddles to $5
3 calls
Hero calls
Staddler checks

Flop ($25)
8 5 4
Hero bets $25, Villain calls, 3 folds

Turn ($75)
2
Hero bets $60, Villain calls

River ($195)
K
Hero checks, Villain bets $100, Hero ?

In general this is a live read and looking at what villain calls flop and turn with. Against a bluffy LAG you need to call this most of the time unless you have some strong read. Not only can villain be bluffing but after you check river he can be betting worse hands thinking they are good.

Easy river call...although I'd prefer to get into the Scooby-Doo Wayback machine and fold the BB.

Snapping. Particularly with your description of villain.

I called after briefly thinking. Villain shows 87o and berates me for slowrolling (because I didn't snap call)

If I had 87o I instantly check behind so I definitely didn't put him on that hand..

What's the point of this hand? Congrats you're a bad nit. Sick pot lead from the bb.

That's some very intense anti-thinking prejudice you have. You weren't even there, and you're upset about someone who thinks about their poker decisions.

You might consider getting used to thinking, if you come to place where people discuss thinking about poker. Consider it!

I often see people pause when someone bets for no reason as this person did.

Similar to GG's point in another thread ... even if he hits his flush and you pay off this bet 100%, he's going to hit it so rarely that he's going to lose his money. Even a better case for calling, if Villain occasionally bluffs.

Am I the only one betting river?
