Exploitation Exploitation

02-25-2015 , 03:19 AM
What are the most common mistakes our opponents are making and how are we exploiting those mistakes.
I play 1/2 and the most common "leak" I see is people playing too many hands and playing them passively.
So how am I exploiting this?
Playing my big hands aggressively.
Set mining.
Limping speculative hands.

Thoughts,advice,experiences,etc.????

Thread is gonna get locked but from my experiences the main type of 1/2 player is the calling station. They call too much both preflop and postflop and stack off too light cause they over-value hands. Against them just never bluff and value bet thinly.

The main other type of 1/2 player is the weak-tight nit who thinks any raise is a set and only stacks off with the nuts. Against them bluff scare cards, play draws aggressively and value bet carefully. You won't get three streets of value with top pair vs them so don't try.

1/2 tables are full of OMCs - the middle aged white males that play too many pots and play them passively. They will tag a long to the flop limping and calling 3-4bb raises. When they get a piece of the flop, they will bet. When they miss, they will c/f. When they have a draw, they will c/c the flop and usually turn all day long. When it checks around to me IP when I'm in a HU or multiway pot with players like this cbetting, and then firing again on the turn and sometimes river (when draws don't hit obviously) is very profitable.

So you spotted the leak and your response to exploit is to pretty much do the same thing?

Topic is very wide, not something you can cover in few posts.

The topic is very wide and it is going to get locked because of that.

The answer to your specific question is to put money in the pot when you are ahead. Check or fold when you aren't. You'll be surprised how many people at 1/2 don't understand the implications of this. It isn't as easy as you might think.
