V1 is a 40 year old LAG guy who recently sat down.
V2 is a approx 60 who is a calling station with big cards but overfolds marginal pairs in an exploitable way.
$1/2NL
Eff Stack Size is $500
V1(UTG1) Raises to 10 preflop. This is pretty much the standard open for the game
V2 (MP3) Calls
Hero(Btn) with 3,4calls $10
3 ways to a flop
pot $30
A,J, 6
Checks to Hero who elects to bet to $22.
After thinking about it for a bit I think that it isn't smart to bet here.
- There isn't much chance I will get two folds here, pretty much any Jack, any low suited ace that called preflop from V2, middle pairs and better flush draws will call me. I don't exactly have many JJ or strong aces in my range, I pretty much just have flush draws here and a few jacks and even less aces in my range.
- If i'm not confident I will get folds 42% of the time I don't want to build a large pot here with a 4 high flush, not a great hand when we're 250bb deep.
So I think it's better to just check behind because you're in position and if you flop more equity like an open ended straight of a gut shot straight you can bet if it checks through or raise quite large if someone bets the 2,5 or 7 which is not likley to strengthen any of their ranges here.
I know this may be a boring/common/simple spot but any help on how to approach this situation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
