1/2 borgata
First hand at table, didn't even get my chips out of the rack yet, so I have no idea what's going on here yet.

Mp1 opens to 10 gets 2 calls in front of me I look down at AJcc and call the 8 more, both blinds call.

Flop 60
A J K one club

Checks to high jack and he bets 15, I raise to 65.
Every one folds he calls.

Turn 190
5 h

He checks, I bet 105, he calls.

River 400
3s

He checks. I ship ? Is anyone ever checking this back here.

heh, stack sizes are important here.

If you bought in for 500, I like a smallish value bet on the river. You are really hoping to get action from Ax, and KJ. I bet $150 on the river. If you bought in for $300 or less, it's a pretty easy ship on the river. I mean, you'll occasionally value own yourself against AK or JJ, but those can both be discounted since he didn't 3b preflop. AQ and AT are his most likely holdings, and since he's a complete unkown, and it's 1/2, I'm usually going to make the assumption that he is a fish, and will pay you off.

Sorry max buy in at borgat is 300, I bought in full and he covers.

So river shove is just less than $150

On flop and turn we can get called by AQ, A10. But on river are we ever getting called by anything we beat other than KJ Or a chop with AJ.

grunch: you played it fine

i'm not checking that back. only thing that beats you that makes a lot of sense is a flopped straight... maybe AK. all sets should have raised on every street. and at 1-2... with a new player pushing hard... i would think there are a lot of sticky aces that could call you down.

i suppose you could check back river with the "what will call me that i beat?" but i think there are some hands that fit that.

Don't check back... But I speak from experience borgata on a weekday is one of the toughest places on the country to play... Too many centuries upon centuries of smart Jews in the northeast... If I was only fully Jewish and not half maybe id still be pro

Well when he checks river to me or dosnt raise the turn I don't think he ever has Q10, and I feel like the only hand I could be loosing to would be AK and even that should be unlikely.

He ended up having KK, and the out come is irreverent. But I was thinking unless he's an iddiot ,he has no reason to think I'm bluffing here. So I couldn't think of too many hands I beat that he would call river with.but I would be sick if I check back and he shows KJ and I miss an extra 150

I don't think a check back is terrible, since as other have mentioned it is tough for worse to call. But I still think a bet is +EV with that stack size. The main reason is that there isn't much that beats you that I think he plays like this. I guess he just got scared of the straight and decided to play his KK passively, but I think most players are raising the turn or betting the river with a hand that strong.
