1/2. Effective stacks 290.
Hero just got back from eating a cookie and has to pay the big blind and 1 dollar ante to the pot. CO also missed his blinds and posts the big blind and 1 dollar ante. Little 3 betting. Table is mostly loose passive except for the Button, a LAG.
Button straddle 5, SB folds, BB calls, MP calls, Hero with 9To, 17 in the pot after rake, 3 to call. Hero? Scoop? Call? Fold?
Yeah, you should include you're exact position in hh's it's one of the most important factors.
Fold pre, and you should never really be thinking about "scooping" in these spots. You should always raise with the expectation that you're gonna get at least a caller or two.
If you flat call the button will be tempted to squeeze and T9o isn't good enough deal with that situation. With a more passive button calling could be OK.
Depending on your position and how likely it is to work a raise some of the time may be OK. The default is fold.
I thought I should not raise here. Calling is weak. Button is laggy and could raise. Only 3 chips and 17 in the pot. Hero regretted call immediately (theme of the night).
Well you now have a pair and nobody else seems interested in the pot. Bet $15 and hope everybody goes away or you get heads up.
It gets to be dangerous guesswork if you get multiple calls because at 1/2 the range of hands is huge. Individually all of the hands that beat you are unlikely but in total the chance that somebody has you beat or draws out on the river are decent. Your hand doesn't have much chance of improving and anything that improves your hand could be dirty. Ending this now is usually the best option.
If opponents are sticky then checking and seeing the river may be better.
Results: Hero bet 10. Button made a pot-sized bet, and BB (I think) called, hero folded. BB won hand with a big bet on the river. No showdown. Thanks for keeping me honest.
how the hell is everyone saying to fold for $3 getting more than 7:1 in what is certainly going to be called by the CO? You literally call with 72o here.
As played I think you did fine. Suited is an obvious raise preflop, unsuited meh, you said the table is passive with almost no 3betting, if you like to play LAG there's an argument for it. Whats the worst that can happen, you lose some money?
Completing seems fine to me but we have to be careful with this hand going post…I think you played it fine, you lost 12 dollars but who cares? That cookie was worth it I bet…
