What is the most effective method for collecting reads on players? When I play online, I use the HUD, which tells me exactly that, for example, on an A-high board, a given player uses sizing 33% mainly as a bluff, and sizing 50% for value. I also have the exact bluff to value ratio shown in every possible line for every size and timing, so I can deviate from main line to gain some EV and beat a game. Collecting this type of information in a live game is incredibly time and energy consuming. Of course you can beat everything up to 5/T using MDA heuristics, but I'm struggling at 10/20 where most of players play decent in most of lines. How are you dealing with this?

Energy consuming but not time consuming. You're sitting there with nothing else to do. You should easily be able to understand who's playing a lot of hands. Who's 4 betting. Look at c betting frequencies. Who can't let a hang go on the river.

Plus you have all of the things you don't have online. Poker is very much stereotyping people based on age, culture, sex, skin color, etc. It's all really discriminatory but you're' playing against real people that you dont know so its useful.

You can easily stereotype things like the old guy is tight, the euro players are trash, the young asian guy is overly aggressive, etc. Then adjust based on what you see. It shoudln't take too long. You can also just ask the table. So who's the maniac?

From what I’ve seen on these forums, the preferred method for doing this is to just employ racist stereotypes.

Stereotypes would be a form of prejudice, meaning to pre-judge someone, not necessarily racist, meaning to hate someone due to their race.

Say what you want about stereotypes based on demographics. While they can and often do lead to problems in most contexts away from the table, they can be useful as a way to enhance population reads in game.

If that weren't true, we wouldn't bother putting the OM into OMC.

Well a lot of people do live up to their stereotypes. I played against several of them today. Old man who bets huge every time he has a hand. Asian guy that wants to gamble. Guy with sunglasses on keeps trying insane bluffs. Guy in his 30s w hoodie on is pretty solid TAG. I played w each of them today.

But I notice a lot of people at the table pay no attention to whats happening. You have to pay attention to show downs to learn how people tend to play hands. You see a guy show down 94s in a raised pot, well you know hes a maniac. But more subtly you might see someone fail to value bet TPTK on a dry board and check it back, then you see him check back and lose an easy bluff hand. Well when he bets the river next time you know hes probably nutted.

You mean racial not racist? No one says anyone is superior/inferior based on race that I've seen.
