I am under-rolled for that game ATM. Since B had a 500 cap I was going to give it a shot, but maybe I will buy in short at the V.

if you only have 500 I'd go to the B instead of the V

2/5 at the B plays similar to the Aria 1/3 IMO. Marginally tougher with fewer "pros".

my 2/5 at the B was marginally tougher than the 5/10 I played there. that has been the case on 3 different occasions...lol sample size though

Question ... do you always play with cash on the table? I rarely see that.
I often play with cash if it plays. In uncapped games, I usually buy in for 100bb in chips and then add cash to my stack when I get to the table to cover. It makes it much less obvious than asking for more chips right after sitting. I'll also reload with cash, just because it's faster. Downside of cash playing is that it can be hard to tell how many bills they have behind.

There were no droolers, but it wasn't exactly "tough". It was different than my usual strategy of "make a hand, get paid.". Creative play actually worked, because Vs actually had fold buttons, and Vs were aggro enough that I had to adjust my ranging. I enjoyed it a lot, because I got to use skills that are nothing but FPS in my regular games.

I tried that, but it wasn't running. Just three people on the interest list, so I went to the B.

This is the same way I approach an uncapped game where cash plays (though I often buy in more like 200bb in chips). The main thing is that if the number of bills V has is not clear you should ask "how many bills do you have?" either between hands or once engaged in a pot. The latter puts them on guard a bit which you may or may not want depending on your plan for the hand. Same applies to big denomination chips - it may not be clear how many $500 or $1K chips a guy has if he's across the table, so I do ask.

Playing the noon deep stack at the Nugget Grand series again today. Just too sick a value to pass up. About 80 players to start. 40 minute levels and 12K starting stacks. Time to gogogo!

What's the crowd like? A lot of everyday-Joe-with-a-dream-plus-a-spare-$1500 taking a shot?

There's a reg I play with who says he's going down to the WSOP to play in one particular tournament. Older guy, not sure if he's retired yet or still working (he always shows up well dressed as if coming from work, so my guess is still working). He's at the room 3+ nights a week. Nice pleasant guy, but not really very good at all, probably a slight losing player (what he makes up in tightness he gives away with horrendous bet sizing and transparency, etc.). I imagine he and a zillion others like him are what makes the WSOP profitable for the top 5%ers.

240. Crowd at this tournament is mostly what you'd find at the weekly "big" tournament at your local casino. I expect the WSOP event will be much stronger.

lol... Don't get me wrong, you are going to run into some good players, but you are going to see the same landmines as you do everywhere else. 1500 events are probably pretty amateur/rec player infested. TBH I hope you draw Phil Ivey at your table. The story is worth the investment. If you don't get Phil Ivey then you'll draw the rec playing landmine Phil Ivory.

Ouch! Turned a flush against a super obvious big PP that V was married to. He called a big bet and any blank gets me his stack. 4-flush hits river and his ears perk up, then he checks. I check behind with the J-high flush and sure enough he has KK with the suit to take half my stack. Sigh.

Unlucky. At least you're not using up all your run-good on these small ones.

Gross. Same sticky V raises. I three bet KK. He calls. Ace in the door of course, and when he calls my c-bet I'm done with the hand. Sure enough, he has AT off and most of my range would be doubling up. Instead, I'm down to 45 bbs.

Which is a decent/good stack size in a tourney grossly enough... Take a breath and make a run at it. You got this!
