Long story short.... Regular fish who I have easily gotten a few grand off in the past few years completely got in me pot today and just wanted to share.
He's just one of those guys who has a weekly routine of losing $500 or so.

Playing in a loose 2/5 game. I am up right around $200 at this point. I have 55 on the button. First position opens for 20. Middle position calls, cutoff calls, and I call. Both blinds fold.

Flop - AQ5r

Just about a dream flop for me. Initial raiser Leads out with a small bet of just $25. Others fold and I decide to just call hoping he will lead out again on the turn.

Turn - Q

Another great card for me. He leads out with another small bet of $40. I decide it's time for a raise and I pray he has a Q. I make it $110. He calls.

River - A

Just an absolute horrible river for me. He leads out with another super small bet of $40 and I'm just sitting there in disgust at how the board ran out. I'v only invested $150 in the pot so it's not the biggest deal. I turn my 55 face up into the muck and say nice river. He instantly shows me his bluff of 89.

Can you ever call here and what reasons do you have for it? He is a big fish who just loves to give his money away and clearly tried too. I am 100% sure he would have bet any river there, but it turns out it was an excellent card for him to represent in first position. His call on the turn with intentions to value bet the river would normally be a pretty advanced move, but I really can't give this guy credit for that. I believe he just wanted to keep betting just to see what would happen.

lol this guy is a star. Not much to say. Next time you play him I would raise smallish like 2.2x his bet so he can spazz out when out are strong.

Yeah my buddy laughed and said there wasn't anything you could do about being outplayed like that. We both just told him nice hand afterwards.

If you're only 200 deep I try to get stacks in on the turn here but that's just me. As played, river is a clear fold IMO.

Forgot to put that stacks in there. I started the hand with 700. He had maybe 600 to start the hand.

Definitely min raising here. If he comes over the top it's a clear fold....shreeeeeeek, okay...I couldn't keep this response going....

So let me get this straight, you start with ~200$ and you didn't get your stack in ott? Not getting your stack in on the turn after flopping a set with < 50 BBs makes baby jesus cry

Ship the turn or raise the flop huge. You are at 40bb to start the hand and you flopped a set, I am really confused how you didn't get it all in on flop or turn.

As played, call river. He bet 40 into 350. You are getting 10.75 - 1 on a call! Hell, I call just for information with those odds..

only if
a) he flips up his cards before you muck or
b) you've watched this guy bluff repeatedly and stupidly for many hours

fold river.

I'd raise the flop. Any Ax is giving you action here. We want to build the pot to get stacks in against the donkey. He's probably stacking off with AT+...

No, can't call the river.

Raise the flop. Raise the turn to something more substantial. AP pot's got $210 in if after you call his $40, so you're only raising $70, giving him 4:1 on a call. Screw that, make him put his money in with a Q, or pay to chase a draw. $200 all day on the turn, easy ship most rivers.

Not adding starting stack sizes on 2p2 is like forgetting to bring your iPhone to the bathroom. Rookie mistake

Your still beating PPs and getting like 10:1. I would've called expecting to lose but I would not have been surprised to see KK JJ TT KT KJ and other drawy ****. Am I missing something?

The absolute biggest leak in this hand is that you turned your hand face up and mucked

That's almost exactly what I was gonna write. Never never never muck face up unless you have a specific reason. It is an ego thing, as in "look how lucky you are, I had the nuts and you got there, please commiserate with me". It is a mental leak.

Playing in a low buyin LAPC event last week, 35bb effective I raise 2.2x with KQs, guy min 3bets on the btn. I 4bet to like 15bb and he tank folds AKs face up (lol donkaments). What he taught me is that I could abuse him all day long, and did so.

Pardon the haterade, but you didn't get outplayed, you butchered the hand with your FPS.

You said yourself it was a dream flop for you. You flop bottom set with two broadway cards. Smallish cbet, so you...call? Why no raise? Don't you want a little value here from those random broadways? If he's got a big ace, which is possible since he led from UTG, he might even 3bet. Or is 1/4psb (5bb's ffs) good enough?

Turn, you've got ~190 in middle (after his lead out) and ~550 behind. Bravo that you do decide to show a little speed...with a 1/3 pot raise? Several people have said "ship the turn". Is that kind of over-bet ever getting called? Or are they content to just take it down right here?

It's not through much great outplaying by him that you lost this one. Your total lack of aggression the entire hand made his steal easy. GG him.
