call or raise? call or raise?

I just joined a 2/5 nlhe table a few hands ago so I have almost zero reads on the relevant players in this hand. I bought in for 400. have about 475 (had a good first hand), everybody at the table has me covered, most by a lot.

here's the hand.

2 limpers, I'm on the button with KTo, I call, sb completes, bb checks, 25 in pot

flop comes 84Jr

checks around

turn is Q, no flush draws

3 checks, Villain bets 30, I call, others fold, pot is 85.

river is 9

villain bets 30.

what do I do, call or raise? I have the 9 to K straight, but AT beats me of course.

answer tomorrow, will answer questions if there are any to clarify the circumstances.

sorry, you're right. I screwed that up. my hand was 8To, and the flop was K4J. I screwed up the 8 and K.

Raise, it's live, he'll call with Q9.

BTW dont limp T8o, ever. It's a trash hand, even from the button.

Ding ding. This was what he had. I called, then was upset at myself after I realized I should have raised.

T8 is really that bad?? Didn't realize that.

He won the pot. How could it be very bad?

fold 8To pre-flop if you're looking to make money else 3bet or even 4bet and shove at the first opportunity to see how it feels,.... lol...lol

don't forget: In poker no matter how big your hand is you'll be making no money unless the other dude has some kind of good hand too and is willing to cooperate. How much money you extract become part of your skill.

AK

if your going to play a hand like this and then call a bet to the bad end of the straight you MUST get max value when you hit. Please raise the river. this hand was played poorly start to finish.

Of course getting max value is the goal, but because it was the bad end of the straight, isn't it better to not raise the river??

I don't have a problem limping otb. Prefer a raise pf though.

Fold the turn.

As played, you caught, so raise it to 85.

Well you cant just be focused on the one hand that beats you every time. It's pretty unlikely he would bet a gutshot on the turn anyway, so what we're hoping for is that he somehow improved on the river. If he went allin against us then we'd fold.

Makes sense. And it was the possible all in from him that I was afraid of, so I just called.
