$1/2 200 max

Hero: mid 20's solid player. Turned $40 into $500 in past two hours with solid play. Has respect from most of table as he has made great plays and great folds.

villain: later 20's, very tight player. Haven't seen his cards as he has been winning before showdown. Hero tried to check raise him on paired rainbow board to steal pot and villain was able to play back. Is a thinking player.

Pre:
UTG: straddles to $4
Villain(UTG+1): calls straddle, and has about $158 back

folds to hero in the CO

Hero: KK and raises to $17. ~$500 back

fold to villain who completes.

Flop ($41):

Q 9 7

Villain: Bets out $20.
Hero: Re-raises to $55, planning to get villain committed, and shoving turn. Villain tanks, and just calls.

Turn ($151)

A

Villain: Insta-jams AI for $90

Hero??

Any feedback is appreciated

Since we're getting such a good price I think we have to call. He's committed himself on the flop to GII on any turn. Sucks for use that it had to be an ace. There are basically no ace highs that villain calls with on the flop so it's unlikely that he's caught his miracle overcard. If he has AQ, which is basically the only ace he calls with on the flop, so be it. Ship it to him.

Interesting spot he could be shoving Jc10c but that's the only hand I think would lead flop and ship turn , i probably still find a fold every hand that a very tight player plays this way has you beat or has a lot of equity against you

This feels like a break even spot where calling or folding would either be fine.
If he's very tight, AQ, 99 and 77 are very possible. Also, hands like QcJc, JT, JcTc, Tc8c -- one pair plus a draw or a straight and flush draw combo -- those might play it aggressive like this, too. Maybe take JTo out of his range, but if T8s is in his range, then so is 97s.
I think this is probably a call bc there are so many draws in his range, but it's close.
Against a player described as tight and thinking, maybe that tips this to a fold.

Don't see a "very tight" player shoving a hand you beat here. Your flop raise says you have at least AQ and he shoves the A on the turn. Think I'd fold most of the time here.

I would raise a little more preflop since there's a straddle and a limper in the pot already.

thanks everyone. Dutch, as you said I considered the hands that could have me beat, and i feel like he would not play a set like that, so the only hands I really considered where AQ, maybe a draw, or maybe even just a play with a Q decent kicker. How often does everyone think villain is making a play here? (Again thinking player, looks smart enough to use table image. Although this is 1/2 200 max, mostly only decent players stay till 4:00am when this happened)

Well played now call. Not fist pumping or anything but you can beat a bunch if hands and you only need to be good ~30% of time to be profitable. Also, if this guys is limp calling 17 dollar raises oop, he's not that good imo

Did you see his cards that hand? He probably just had trips or better, not stealing the stealer.

This is my fav part of your story, OP!

Progress, yes he called a larger raise relative to his stack OOP, good point. Maybe he was card dead for a long time and I mistook it for him being TAG. And Eldie, that is true, but I think the board was 2 2 6 rainbow and there was a raise preflop. Doubt he has a two or 66, prob a decent overpair.

SPOILER:

Hero tanks for a bit, and eventually calls. River blanks. Villain does not flip card over right away, but slowly flips over just one Q. Hero is thinking slowroll, but villain says "just a queen". Hero flips and scoops pot and villain leaves. Villain showed others his cards at his end of table before tossing into muck, who later confirm it was QJ.

After reviewing the hand my best estimate was Qx possibly suited. This would explain the donk bet and then when the 2nd club came on the river he decided to go all in
