2-5 NL borgata
I just sat down with $500 and have no reads on villian

I'm UTG+2 with AKo and open the pot for $25. A mp player with $210 calls.
2 players pot $56

Flop 10d 2d 9s

Hero c-bets $40 and villian calls.
2 players pot $136

Turn Ac

hero bets $100 Villian pushes his remaining $145 hero calls.

River brick and Villian turns over 99.

Was hero just destined to double villian up?

I'd just bet half-pot on the turn like $70-$75 so that QJ, 78 type hands are more liable to come along and to give us some FE if he does happen to ship the turn, which he will probably be doing rarely enough and only with hands that beat us that bet/folding the turn won't be exploitable.

Since he's short you can probably assume he's not going to peel the flop off with AQ/AJ so if he shoved the turn you could ascertain you beat almost nothing plus you're not utterly committed.

feel like my response might be a little result orientated but anyways..

If you have no read on opponent and you c-bet flop then I'd be hoping to represent some sort of pocket over pair (JJ,QQ,KK,AA) or A-10. So if the A comes on turn, I'd check looking for him to bet, since he could have the ace or wants to bluff me, and I'd call it for pot control. For river it depends what card hits, most likely I'd fire off a 1/2 pot bet for him to call.

Yep. With these stack sizes and these hands it was inevitable

Yeah don't think too hard about this one...c-betting the flop is fine and once the turn hits you're going broke. He is not nearly deep enough for you to fold once the turn hits regardless of whether you check, or bet smaller

Not to be overly simplistic, but...

he only has 42 bbs, you have AK... you make a standard c-bet... then you hit what you are looking for. Yes, this was inevitable.

You were destined to double him up.

I disagree with anyone saying check or bet only $70-$75 on the turn.

There is $136 in the pot and he only has $145 left. Bet/call anywhere between $90 and allin and expect villain to call with worse often or fold and make a mistake against us later (after feeling he was pushed off the pot).

The pot is already too big relative to stacks to consider pot control and we can't put villain specifically on hands that beat us.

lulz, I thought this was a 1/2 game. Psychologicaly that obviously changes my perception of the hand completely, so I now concede stacking off is okay.

If this was a 1/2 hand though I'd def play it the way I described. A 100bb all-in is obviously way stronger than a 50bb all-in.
