Bomb pot, not quite sure what to do. Bomb pot, not quite sure what to do.

How it usually works: The whole table agrees to do a bomb pot before the cards are dealt. If one or more objects, then the bomb pot is squashed. (however if it's only one person preventing the bomb pot, he/she will usually agree to sit out the hand)

Once agreed every player puts agreed upon amount out and then the cards are dealt straight to the flop and action picks up as normal from there starting in the SB.

If you opt out and the Bomb Pot continues on, then you are simply not dealt in.

Most people in BBJ rooms would object to not being dealt in, which is why in my room those who decide not to participate (which is typically ~half the table) simply voluntarily fold their hand preflop.

Yea, I've seen this before. Usually only goes if everyone agrees, I didn't hear a term for it before though. And I always object. One such hand I objected and two guys put in $100 blind anyway. I looked at rags and folded but had I found a big hand I would have 3!, am I getting run out of the room if I do this? Seems selfish of 2 or 3 players to take over the game while the rest of the table watches and potentially losing blinds in the process...

You have to take a long term view of this. You'll likely be playing with these guys for many many years and you want to create as enjoyable environment as possible for them to play in, plus make it as enjoyable as possible to play with you (even though they will eventually be losing all their money to you). You don't have to participate in bomb/shoots (I don't), but you should happily fold (if you fear tilt due to having to fold a big hand simply fold blind) and cheer them on.

Most action tables like this only do it every round / every other round at most, so it's no big deal to fold a hand every few orbits that you were probably going to fold 80% of the time anyways.

The main room I play in does not have a BBJ, makes sense why it might work a little different in your room.

Great advice by GG. depending on the level you are playing at (1/2, 2/5, etc). Bomb pots of $100/player are pretty excessive and should be rejected. A common bomb pot amount is 5BB/player.

If the table wants to do a bomb pot, just sit out the hand. The worse thing you can do long term for your image is to object to a bomb pot and then raise the hand. Fun players won't give you action, period. Don't be that guy.

I'm never the person to shut down a bomb pot because the residual effects on the game infinitely worth it. Seriously 1 bomb pot can spice up a dead game for the rest of the night. Nobody wants to play in a dead game, bomb pots help eliminate that.

Better yet, learn how to play bomb pots. Especially if you favor your post flop skills. What is your objection currently?
