Seems selfish of 2 or 3 players to take over the game while the rest of the table watches and potentially losing blinds in the process...

You don't have to participate in bomb/shoots (I don't), but you should happily fold (if you fear tilt due to having to fold a big hand simply fold blind) and cheer them on.
Most action tables like this only do it every round / every other round at most, so it's no big deal to fold a hand every few orbits that you were probably going to fold 80% of the time anyways.

Great advice by GG. depending on the level you are playing at (1/2, 2/5, etc). Bomb pots of $100/player are pretty excessive and should be rejected. A common bomb pot amount is 5BB/player.
If the table wants to do a bomb pot, just sit out the hand. The worse thing you can do long term for your image is to object to a bomb pot and then raise the hand. Fun players won't give you action, period. Don't be that guy.
I'm never the person to shut down a bomb pot because the residual effects on the game infinitely worth it. Seriously 1 bomb pot can spice up a dead game for the rest of the night. Nobody wants to play in a dead game, bomb pots help eliminate that.
Better yet, learn how to play bomb pots. Especially if you favor your post flop skills. What is your objection currently?
