1/2 NL. Villain in this hand must be some sort of a regular, as he knows a few people at the table. Haven't seen him play any hands of interest yet, though. He is still new and doesn't seem super-observant so he probably has no thoughts about Hero.

Hero (~350) is in the BB with AK : Villain (~210) and about 3 others limp, Hero raises to 18. Villain and 1 other call.

Flop: 532
Hero?

I check and V bets 30, other player folds. Hero? (I call)

Turn: J

Hero?

Need stack size.

But I like CR here.

We have probably 18 outs on the flop. Let's check raise this every time.

I like CR too, and that was my original plan. Something just seemed strange about the way he bet, he seemed super-confident or something. Obv calling if he shoves over the top, right? What about the action on the turn after I just call?

CR flop, ship it on turn.

As played, I would consider a CRAI, or something pretty decent, here as well. If it is check through, I am afraid your line is a bit too weak to get a fold on river without improving.

i'd bet the flop, and if he called i would shove the turn since effective stacks are only 100bbs and that turn card is a nice scare card.

standard check rizzle shove

edit. i probably would have just lead out to be honest. Pot sized bet. double barrel. triple if i missed or value town

This is one of the spots that confuses me sometimes. I am a little surprised to see CR instead of a bet/3bet. What other parts of our range are we checkraising the flop with here. Is it standard to CR overpairs?

That's because the flop C/R is the worst freaking line imaginable. We've got boatloads of equity versus the villain's range. I love a bet/3b/shove on the flop. Our equity goes out the window on just about any turn.

+1 for the bet/3bet line on the flop as it's unlikely we would c/r the flop with an overpair and also villains will accurately put us on a fd when we c/r this flop. IMO

Check raise flop, as played check shove all in turn. His turn raise should at least be $50 on turn. He may feel pot committed so you may be getting a call. But with so many out this isn't that bad.

Don't check raise the flop. Bet/bet/bet. And bet big. Make it look like scared aces and get it in. Even if someone flopped a set, you have 12 outs. If they have an overpair 66-QQ you have 18 outs and are actually ahead. They'll never have AA/KK here. Bet and bet big.

This is textbook check / ship flop. Also with AA and KK.

And by the way, balancing with any bluffing range is not necessary and actually just exploits yourself if you attempt it.

Haha thats what I thought too. I really butchered the turn on this hand (bet/folded to a ship). He miraculously showed two red kings. Gave the dealer a dollar to rabbit hunt and it was Ad. Not relevant, but anyway.

why would we give free cards with KK or AA on this type of board?

Because I like to balance the times I check shove this flop with AKss. Most players only chk shove the NFD here. Thats why they get called a bunch by 99 TT etc.

Because unless the players are total nits, they will stab at this flop once i check.

Because I dont do anything really by the book so they can count on it. Keep them completely off balance as far as what your range is. What do you do with 77 on this flop if last and I check the flop? Allow not one but TWO players have a free card?

Oh, I forgot. Betting flop only folds out air. thats it. Then oncethey call that, they call turn quite often. I want the most fold equity here plus I want to accept then squash any air stab on the flop.
