Best fold ever? Best fold ever?

There are many more times we see some sick hero call buy rarely a sick laydown especially at lower stakes. I witnessed the best fold Ive ever seen tonight and was wondering what are some of the best folds you have seen at the lower levels.

Here it is. Game is 2/5 Nl at local casino. Previous to this hand, villian stacked off hero in a hand where hero check raised top two in a raised pot. Villian called. Turn paired the board making any pair above 88 good. Hero shipped, villian caled and somehow hero was good. Before this point I thought villian was a good player. Later he said it was a "bad read"

Anyway he moves seats to be to my immediate left. He is playing very passive pre flop and very solid and aggressive post flop and has built is stack back up to around 1500 and has hero covered.

Someone in MP makes a small raise to 15, one caller and Hero calls from HJ with 33 and Villian calls on button.

Flop = 3x8s9s

Checked to hero who bets 50
Villian calls
Folds around.

Turn = 3

Hero checks calls 100
River offsuit 5
Hero checks.
Villian bets 100
Hero thinks for a bit and raises to 400 with 250 behind.

Villian turbo mucks 88.

ARE YOU SERIOUS????

I am still in shock. Even very good players fold there. Made me feel like I am not as good as a thought. This guy...WOW.

I asked him "how do you fold that?" And he casually shrugs and says "I don't know..."

Now I am wishing I would have played the hand faster!

What are the best laydowns you have seen?

That's a horrible laydown. He also played the entire hand terribly.

I think hero played the hand worse than villain but it's pretty close.

Is there confirmation that hero had 33?

Edit: nm, missed that in OP

Biggest fold ever but not the best. I would be bluffing this guy like crazy in future hands since he can essentially never call.

That's not a good fold vs your range, villain is leaking "galfond bucks".

There's still hope in poker!

Dumping the third best hand possible, holy crap. I think V has vision problems and didn't realize what he had. Somewhere V is hanging his head in shame.

That or that Hero was shaking so much due to the quads that he Hellmuthed his chips in there.

EDIT:

Poorly played hand all around

This is an appropriate time to look shocked and show him a single 3. Tell him you can't believe he folded that.

Leaving money behind in spots like this can be seen as powerful.

As played he figures you hit the flop. Then you c/c followed by c/r (essentially AI). At this point only possibilities are 33 or 99, both grunch folds.

I'm never folding 88 here.

They could be playing 38, 39, 67, A3, a stupid overpair. Oh well, good read by him I guess. Or he's just SERIOUS mubsy..

Maybe you have some serious live tell when you have quads
