Berate my play. Berate my play.

1/2NL. Eff stacks $300. Villain is winning TAG, maybe a bit too tight. Hero might be seen a little LAGgy but thinking, not an easy mark, etc.

Hero picks up AhKh utg+1. UTG has straddled for $8. I Make it $22. Folds to V OTB who flats. I am putting him on TT+, AQs+. Pot is $42.

Flop is KKJ, two diamonds. Hero?

Tough putting V on a strong 2nd best hand, like KQ. And JJ has you killed. I think the probability of V making a mistake when he has to fold/call/raise has more weight than slow playing. So I'm betting even though I don't know of many hands that will continue. AdQd isn't folding, QQ will at least see what you're going to do on the turn.

35 otf, 75 ott, that leaves eff stacks otr of 168 and a pot of 275 to shove.

A discussion on V's flatting a 3-bet range is what we need though.

His range PF? The range I gave him is his flat range in this position I'm pretty sure.

Or did you mean if flop goes b/r/3b/c?

That's a very tight range. If it is that tight, bet the flop and see if he can chase. Don't get married to the hand though.

I'm still working on ranging players. I don't have a ton of history but based on what I have i would say tighter side of tag. What's a better range given that general description?

I would bet about $35 on the flop. I'm calling if raised and betting/shoving the turn if it's not a diamond.

You think he flats KK and AA?

Also, when you make it $22 pre, and villain calls on the BTN with $300 effective stacks, he can certainly have at least a few more hands than you're thinking.

Betting leverages your LAGgy reputation. If villain is really a TAG rather than a shriveled up little old raisin, he is probably capable of floating with Jx and draws.

Turn should be interesting.

How LAGgy are you? Have you been firing multiple streets from oop? And how aggressive is villain? Does he frequently check behind ott?

I'm not at all sure I wouldn't c/c the turn. Regardless of what falls.

Bet Flop- $40, this will give us a better picture of V's range if he continues.

Assuming Villain continues we can include JJ, AK, KQ, KJs, KTs, QTs, Ax in V's range.

Check/calling Turn unimproved.

if your image is LAGgy, this flop is a jackpot. Bet and don't fold

Oof....now V has the initiative and can check behind with straight draws, flush draws, and smaller pocket pairs to out draw you. A check-raise would most likely blow the villain out of the pot so c/c flop if he bets.

If the turn is something like deuce of spades you could c/r. If it goes check-check I'm b/c the river.

One major mistake new players make is they bet when they're on a draw and check when they have the nuts (or near nuts).
I think you're checking here because you think your hand is so strong - but it's really not. Any , any T and any J hurts your chances of taking down the pot.
The only cards that help are a K or A... at which point, you're likely not to get any action.
Letting a player catch-up without charging him for it is a great way to get felted and then wonder why.

Haha, that's a pretty good response to "berate my play."

OP, maybe you should go ahead and post the entire hand, and people can critique each street and berate you a lot more efficiently.

What was the plan with the check? c/c, c/r? And do what ott for each of those paths?

What flop did you want with ak? This one. stop seeing ghosts around every corner--charge the draws to stay in the hand.

Meh, I've played hands that look far worse than this. In fact, I see people making mistakes all the time when they post hands here (which is fine because the goal shouldn't be to get a bunch of NH comments). I don't see anything unusually bad here.

The first part accurately reflects my bad thinking this hand.

V checks behind. Turn is T. Hero pukes and?

Bet/Bet/Bet, Get the money in. If we had a plan here against a certain villain we could check with the intention on inducing.. blah blah.. it's going to be an uncommon spot. But, against any unknown or any typical 1/2 NL Reg/Rec and as a default play I am going to bet bet bet bet here. This is value-town universe. ****, I might be inclined to way over bet this Flop.. you'll get some donkey like me calling it off with KJ or something else dominated. *face palm*
