Beginner trying to get better Beginner trying to get better

Hello all,

I've been playing NLHE for a couple of years, but still consider myself a beginner, because in so many words, I suck. Not very familiar with implied odds, reverse implied odds, and a lot of the other basic math stuff.

After spending some time away from playing 1/2 live, I recently started playing again at a poker room with action that pretty much resembles a casino. After busting the first night, I returned the day after, and played way tighter and enjoyed some success despite sitting there for over two hours and not getting any hands better than 77's and AK (20$ profit). After observing the session, this worked for two reasons that I was aware of:

1) a lot of loose action
2) I was kinda short stacked - I bought in with 200$, but house rules are that max buy in is the big stack at the table. At the 9 person table I was one of probably 3 that had 300$ or less.

I'll definitely be returning, and furthermore, I've turned to this forum because I really want to get better and turn into a profitable player at the 1/2 level.

Honestly assessing myself and my game, my foundation isn't great - so really any suggestions, no matter how basic they may seem, would definitely be helpful.

Read the posts in the forum.
Read the stickies.
Respond to posts with your thoughts.
Think about what people are saying, and ask if you don't understand.
Re-read the stickies.
Google search the terms you are not familiar with.
Post hands you have trouble with.

In the mean time, I'm going to close this as there isnt really a question here, and if there is, it is incredibly vague.

Best of luck to you,
Irtm
