Yeah he's a regular rec player that plays fairly nitty and all kinds of red flags when off when he put the raise in. I just couldn't justify folding in the moment of the hand although I should have. Thanks for the help. And I'll try to improve my HH organization haha sorry for the confusion.

Preflop this is a clear 3bet as you are OOP.

Get the friggin chips in on the flop. You're not a nit. You're SCARED.

I'm thinking V's range is 99+,AK,AQ. V is capable of stealing blinds, and often makes this play when short stacked and shoves flop

Flop (69)
AQ4 Rainbow
Hero:checks
Villain:checks
Red flags are going off as I'm almost sure V cbets every flop check is often a slow play
I think your reads were excellent.

Before you sized and bet the turn did you have a plan for the rest of the hand?

I'm totally cool with the flat preflop. 3betting could easily fold out some crappy hands that he is opening wide with (we're cool with seeing a flop vs these hands). 3betting and getting called could set us up for some sucky postflop situations OOP in a huge pot. And what do we do if he 4bets? I want to puke in my mouth having to possibly consider folding to a 4bet this deep where setmining alone should be profitable.

If he continues wide I think I'm cool with check/raising the flop.

I don't think I can bring myself to fold postflop and I'm cool with playing for stacks.

At this point even though I was concerned about his check on the flop I still never figured to be behind. So I was assuming value bet the turn and river. Then when he put the raise in on the river I thought I was beat (badly enough I still called)

the 1/3 games i play when people raise to $30 pre they have JJ+ pretty much every time. not even AK. OP, do you know anything about when he raises massive pre?

most 1/3 regs like this i play with i think you played optimally. leading flop is dumb. standard bet turn bet river. vomit fold. sounds nitty but i think vs villains i play against that sound like your description this is fine. i'm flatting pre with QQ to set mine btw lol

No, but I have seen him make about a pot size bet with a set when the board is completely dry (ex k82 rainbow) and make a statement like "would rather just take it down now". I figured the big raise equated to a pretty big hand just wasn't sure how big. And yeah if I could make myself vomit I would have done it all over the table lol. Especially since he fist pumped and yelled after taking down the pot haha.

I think all the streets up to river are fine. Call the river. Even though you see Aces fairly often, I see guys play AQ and AK and sometimes even KK and some random air like this often enough where this is a call.

I wouldn't say you're the biggest nit of all time, but this hand surely puts you in the running.

Would've been a sick fold but I wouldn't be able to lay this down.

What would your opinion be if you mucked and he showed AQ?

You didn't describe the guy as an ultra nit that only puts money in the pot with the nuts...you called him a tag.

A tags value range here is AA, AQ, 44, 88, A4s. Maybe even AK if he's used to shortstacking and views tptk as the nuts here

You're crushing that range...only losing to AA.

Yes abc tags will and should be opening 44, A4s pre on the btn here

Don't be results oriented if you lost to AA here. You can't fold
