AKd vs XX

In this hand I had just sat down for one orbit. The table is full of players who came for the WSOP circuit event in Atlantic City. I know NO ONE. I have no real reads on the players except that they are much better than the usual crowd I play against. Not sure if I should be posting the immediate result. Please give me some input. I'll post the result afterward.

Villain (UTG) raises to 25. Im UTG+1 w/ AKd and flat call. Everyone folds around. Heads up to the flop: As Jd 4c. Check check. Turn: Qd. UTG checks. I bet 50. UTG calls. River Ax. V Checks. I bet 120. He calls. Villain shows .......


I checked the flop because I felt like this player has a real hand and I wanted to check behind to pot control. Maybe this wasn't a good idea. On the turn I bet out for pure value where I picked up the redraw to a royal flush. On the river I thought I was good and bet out in such a way to make it seem as if I was buying the pot.

I felt pre too, ck flop sometimes, but size down a touch on turn and riv, but he called so that's good... unless you just got severely nitrolled.

I'm definitely betting flop in this spot. Villain has a lot of c/c hands IMO. As played, turn sizing is fine. On this river I'd probably bomb it and assum he has a lot of worse AX and some KK or QJss that could call. WP.

I agree with you. Looking back I should have bet the flop. I would have a better idea where I stood in the hand. Anyways. He rolls over JJ for the full house. He flopped the set.

Him checking JJ on the flop and then never raising after that is LOL bad. Don't ever give this NIT money when he bets in the future.
