1/3 game. Hero has $225. Villain 1 has $500, villain 2 $20. Villain 1 is an old man maybe 60, had been limping a lot. Saw him raise a few times, once with aces, didnt showdown the others...Hero is 24 yr old, raising a lot pre when folded to and have been caught bluffing 2 or 3 times.
The hand: Villain 1 (utg+1) raises to $12. Villain 2 (cutoff) goes all in for last $20. Hero on button looks down at AKcc. Obvious reraise right? How big? I raised to $80...too much?

Yeah, no need to go to $80, imo. $60 would be standard, but since you're a bit short and want to be able to fold to a 5-bet, I'd probably just make it $50.
You could also call, knowing that V1 is never folding pre and will almost never bluff in to a dry side-pot, so you can easily fold post unimproved if he bets.

Hmm ok ty, that pretty much answers the 2nd question I was going to ask: are you ever raising smaller here then folding to a shove by V1...I guess in these lower limit games you will always be up against AA or KK when V1 shoves.

We could go a lot smaller to like $40 and this will prevent set mining odds against us when we flop TP. Course this doesn't guarantee we get to the river to realize our equity if we whiff the flop.
However, we are facing an EP raise from an older guy. I actually don't hate the large reraise ($70 would do) which attempts to setup a PSB shove on any flop, with the hope being pocket pairs manage a fold preflop or on the flop.
ETA: Many casinos have different rules regarding if the betting is re-opened, but my casino has a rule that if the reraise is for 1/2 the raise or more, the betting is re-opened. So in this case, if we just flat, I believe the betting is re-opened for the raiser, which might put us in an awkward spot. Or, perhaps we allow him to reraise so we can shove? For just 75bbs, I'm treating AKs fairly nuttish and don't think I could ever fold at any point preflop.

I definitely don't mind flatting the 20$ and playing the rest of the pot heads up in position. Not an Obvious reraise by any means . This is a cash game you shouldn't be afraid to play a pot and see a flop . If you feel the need to raise, $45 is a much much better size

$50 sounds like a good number. I'm never a fan of a min raise, so if you want to go small I'd do at least $45
