If the standard raise size at a 2/5 game was $75, and i was 425 bbs deep ($2125), the correct adjustment is not “only 3 bet with aces or kings”. The goal is to make as much money as possible in relation to time. The most profitable line to take is the one that is most EV+ against their range, and if they have a standard range, you can 3 bet a range thats linear and is ahead of their range. The same would be true if there were no blinds at all. You would also be opening to $75 yourself with a range that you can play profitably against your opponents calling ranges (which may be on the tighter side)
So are you really suggesting that in a 1/1 home game where people are allowed to buy in for $1K (I'll do the math for you quick it's a thousand big blinds), and hero is the short stack with $425; people are raising to $6 pre? A $15 raise in those types of games are basically pot sweeteners (and if not, i don't think adonson would be re-raising to 60 with AJs).

I guess you only made it thru my first sentence. When the **** did i say “people are raising to $6”? I explained the proper adjustment to a 15x raise.

I know you didn't say 6 I said 6 meaning if it was a standard 100 bb 1/1 game people would be raising to 6 pre, but when they're buying in for $1,000, a 15 dollar open, which is "15 big blinds", is still pretty much a pot sweetener and shouldn't be compared to opening to 75 in a 2/5 game.

It depends on how common openings that size are. I would put him on a strong hand. That doesn't mean I would call only big pairs. There are advantages to knowing his tight range. I would play AK and mid pps at least.

Not sure if his sizing was bad given the field and dynamics. However, it seems like it could often be sort of face up.

Despite the good result, this hand may be a fold preflop, particularly when it looks likely to be HU.
