$1/2

V1 ($400) - 30 y/o white guy. Seems pretty bad at poker. He's up for the day due to getting lots of promo dollars (including hitting a royal flush). The worst play I saw him make was calling off three streets with AA on a board with obvious straights, flushes, and Full houses possible against a tight player. He's inexperienced. He can be somewhat difficult to read because of his cluenesses. He's got an incredibly wide limp-calling range pre-flop. Has not c/r'd once in 4 hours at any point.

V2 ($800) - English tourist. Has a good read on Hero. Playing an overall small ball LAG game. Has a bullseye on Hero's back because Hero has gotten lucky on V twice and has tormented his friends for the past 2 days with aggressive play. Verbally said that he's going "get his money back" from hero. He's super active. If he's not the one opening pf, he's usually in there calling. Will peel the flop with any piece. He's also got a super wide limp/calling range pre-flop (showed J5s from EP one time).

Hero ($300) - Playing tight. Recently won a nice pot with a rivered straight. Pretty nitty overall. V1 is probably unaware of images. V2 is definitely aware.

Hand:

Pre-flop

Three limps to hero on the button who raises A J to $15
V2 calls in the SB
One limper calls
V1 calls from MP

Flop ($60)
J85
Checks to V1 who bets $15
Hero raises to $50
Everyone folds except V1 who calls

Turn ($160)
7
V1 checks
Hero bets $80
V1 shoves. Hero has $155 behind.

Hero?

not sure what difference V2 makes in the hand. but as played I am definitely folding. As you described him, he seems like he would only be calling down with a worse J. or at least not c/r.

I would like to see a bigger raise on the flop, but it makes it hard to make a bet that isn't committing on the turn. All in all, if he's stationy and bad, it might be better to just accept committing against his range by the turn.

As played, definitely fold.

7 is a terrible card because T9 gets there as do two pair hands that I could see V1 floating in this spot. I probably check the 7 for pot control because V1 has obviously shown enough interest to withstand your initial raise and you could be beat on the flop by a set of 8's.

Fold as played; the only thing he could have here that you beat (besides a stone cold bluff) is KJ.

More on the Flop ... only $35 into $90 is an easy call for most every V and you had players behind you as well that could have made it even more sweet for V to continue getting +EV numbers (if behind).

Although it can always be enticing to continue betting. I might find myself checking this Turn to get a read on V on River. Yes, that's a free card to a flush or overs but I'm just saying I would do it some of the time. You are getting close to stack committed with a pretty sucky board out there and 'onlyl' 1 pair. Not all the time, just some of the time I check back the Turn. Betting more OTF makes checking this Turn back easier IMO as well.

AP ... fold, you have very little chance of improving and V has made an action that you have not seen before. GL
