2-3 NL usually plays like 3-5. I just got called to PLO and am playing out of the rack. Villain is 30s WG, just got to the table. He bought in for 500 and has folded his first couple hands. We cover.
Hero on btn with AhAd.
Pre: V in HJ opens 15, Hero 3b 50, V calls
Flop (105) : QcQsJc
Check, Hero 30, V cr to 75, Hero calls
Sort of feels like a OESFD or AJ that wants to see a free river. Think I probably just check back and see what he does. Gonna have to call a reasonable size bet on a brick.
If we were deeper, starting over $700, I wouldn't hate betting $100 on turn and folding to a jam.
Due to having the Button, being too deep to be able to 3bet to a size where we can comfortably stack off postflop, having no other dead money in the pot, having no limpers to deny equity from, and possibly being ok with inviting any fishy BB along, I might flat preflop a lot here.
Awkwardish SPR of ~4.5 and flop. Overall, I don't think we want to stack off here, especially the more our hand reads for what it is, cuz if the money goes in I just think we see Qx here most times. Would also hate to be check/raised. So with that in mind, I would check back the flop.
I probably mostly lean to checking back the turn to bluffcatch / value bet the river.
coldcalling AA pre here might be good if the following conditions are met
1) people respect your 3bets too much b/c youre a nit. i think 3betting and just winning the open + blinds here sucks.
2) the blinds are terrible
3) the blinds like to squeeze (although id rather have KK here so the blinds are more likely to have an Ax hand to squeeze with)
4) you wont stack off if the board is horrible.
