Hi everybody,

So, as you can see I am new to this forum.
I´ve been playing poker since 2009, and I´m starting now to play live NL200- NL400. I think that I´m a decent player, but there are always this basic spots where you start to doubt about what is the best play, the best option. It´d be very interesting for me to know your point of view about this one.

NL200 (150bb deep)
Hero is UTG+1, AhAc
UTG raises to 4, I 3/bet to 16 and receive 4 callers including UTG (yeah, great game)
FLOP is 7d9dJd (pot 83€)
UTG checks

So, at this point, what do you think is the best move??? Check-fold?? I friend of mine, good player, says that he would always check-fold; but I feel like that has to be a really weak move.
Of course I completely dissmiss a check-call oop. I would bet 1/2 pot, and fold to a push, or revaluate turn in case I receive a call...

Sorry for my English, not my first language.

We can still get value from a diamond, a J, straight draws, etc. However, any diamond/6/8/T/Q/K is a killer for us. In other words, more than half the deck. I'd bet the flop like 1/2 pot bet and re-evaluate.

I tend to alternate between check/evaluate and c-bet when I have an over pair/TPTK on these nightmare boards. The stack sizes, number of opponents and what I know about their play styles all influence my choice.

As painful as it can be, against a table of unknown opponents, my history suggests check/fold is often the best option in bloated pots on very ugly boards. Hero has no idea if they are ahead or behind, lots of turn cards are bad and hero has little redraw value.

size your 3bet bigger pre, 25
AP bet/fold 40, if called check/call reasonable bets on brick turns

I'd normally check to see where I'm at in this situation. Always check-folding seems wrong but never check-folding seems worse.
