$1/2 - 8 handed

V ($400) - 50 year old white guy. Thinking player. I don't know his game well, but I'd guess that he's profitable at this card room because everyone else stinks. He's in the Tag neck of the woods. Not a friendly player, so maybe just there for the money.

Hero ($200) - playing tight. No big pots played. Had raised a lot of buttons prior to this hand against V. All hands were over on the flop or pre.

The hand:

Folds to hero on the button who makes it $10 with AhAd
V calls

Flop ($20): 6s 5s 2s
V checks
hero bets $15
V calls

Turn ($50): Ac
V checks
Hero bets $35.
V c/r to $140
Hero folds.

Thoughts?

I was thinking that his range contained more flush draws than made hands and I wanted to get value.

If he actually had a flush already, why would he x/r on the Turn and not on the Flop? Or why not slowplay it?

Which makes me think he either has a draw or a double pair like A6 or A5 or some KsQx / QsKx

For the amount you have in your stack, I'm not folding this. I would go all in for whats remaining.

Happy to read others input

Smaller pre for a button open. I believe we’re supposed to size down btn vs bb on monotone flops.

As played it would be a disaster if we fold and he has a set. He should have tons of flushes though, but we have 10 outs against those. I probably stick it in.

Pre seems fine if $10 is the standard open. Might go a tad smaller otherwise, when it folds to us on the BTN.

Think I would check back flop or turn. Hard to bet three streets for value on a monotone board unless V has at least a set.

Flop bet is way too large on a monotone flop. We're supposed to bet smaller, less than 1/3 pot. Think I'd prefer to bet $5 and see what he does.

Is V in the SB or BB? Just wondering how wide he is pre.

Check raising the turn with a flush is weird, when we could be checking back a lot after our flop bet gets called. Thick value might want to donk out on an ace, which hits our range.

Hard to fold top set at these stakes, when V could have a fair amount of 2P, and possibly some sets that were slow played on the flop but now decided to blast off for some reason, as well as some AXo combos with the As, that block the nuts.

Also wondering if we got any tells, like a timing tell before he jammed?

I don't love it, but I don't think I could fold here, at these stakes, and this SPR, unless I had a high degree of confidence that V is never playing a worse hand this way.

On this monotone flop I would probably be checking back the turn. But also likely calling any bet on the river. AP I would just get the money in now.

Pre is small at my tables, but it is BTN vs blinds. I'm fine with flop and turn, but I gii on turn. No way I'm folding this for 100bb.

Normally you go small on monotone flops but since the pot is so small i dont mind doing this. Im not gonna bet $5 on flop.

Turn is perfect for check back. We get chance to river a boat and stack villains flushes, we put in less money when he does have the flush and we dont hit because we can bluff catch or value bet river when he checks and fold to a raise.

I was thinking of checking back turn, but I thought had to charge his flush draws. It was my first session in two months, so I was playing kind of nitty. I never did see his hand.
