A4s 4-bet pot preflop, mediocre flop, how should we proceed? A4s 4-bet pot preflop, mediocre flop, how should we proceed?

Hero in BB A♠️4♠️ 5/5 1,100 effective

BTN straddle pot, SB folds we raise to 40, folds to unknown BTN who makes it 110, we 4-bet to 350, BTN calls

Flop K♥️3♥️2♥️ (705)

Thoughts on how we should play our range here? We effectively have 775 behind.

Because of BTN straddle if the table is 9 handed then we are technically UTG+1 which would normally make A4s mostly just an open fold (at a tough table) but given we have $5 in I don't think this ever gets folded. FWIW in these BTN straddle spots from the SB and BB I play my whole range as a limp.

Facing the 3bet I think folding is best. If the BTN is really out of line ya we can 4bet but this spot where BTN can call and close the action in position tends to be under 3bet because all of his "normal" 3bet "bluffs" can also make profitable calls (like A2s-A5s, suited broadways, suited connectors, etc).

Now on the flop in game I'd bet 1/4 pot with range and I have no idea how this spot is "supposed" to be played as BB here.

First of all there is a player dynamic issue here where the player is both button straddling and 3betting an early position raiser. This is the behavior of a player who isn't in the game to be folding cards preflop. So the idea of raise a suited wheeldraw ace to 4bet it light is flawed from the jump. We shouldn't be making light 4bets on a player we don't have a read on yet either.

But since we've already gone full maniac why stop here, stick it all in and see if he wants to play for it, nobody flops a flush.

As played your pre bet is kinda out of line. Your four bet is burning money.

At best you can check and hope the button gets distracted and never bets any street. Otherwise you’re folding to everything.

Call 5 the first time around.

Given that you raised instead, fold to a 3-bet.

Now that you got to this flop, you have less than a pot sized bet left, so open-jam and hope that he missed. You are representing AK/AA here with your EP open and 4-bet after all.
