$2/$5 Live
Need to preface this hand by explaing that a very particular WHALE FISH guy was at the table with a great big stack of money. This is a guy who predictably raises 90% of time and plays very aggro post flop. Pots will get big and you can win a lot of money. Everyone at table knows this and has made adjustments. Many TAGs are now limping with much of their range and a lot of ISO-ing going on as well/ The dynamic at table was being led by the FISH villain.

That said...
Stack sizes: Mine was $780. V covered me and so did FISH.

Main V info: TAG Asian 30yrs old wearing hoodie. I know him from years ago at home games and he knows me. We have respect for each others games. he is a very good player - thoughtful, smart, and confident.

I limp UTG+1 with 67. 4 more callers and Main V rasies to $30 froim the CO. FISH calls from SB, I call and so do 2 others.

POT= $160 (or so)
Flop: 45K

I bet $60. f,f and Main V raises to $180. FISH folds. I call (I was considering shoving...thoughts?)

POT= $520
Turn: A

Bet sizing here?

My intent with this thread: to get an idea of how you guy/ glas may have played this. I do understand playing 67s EP is typically not a great play. I am usually a TAG player but the dynamics created by the FISH V made this table a great prospect for speculative play IMO. I'd love to hear opinions on:
- how you adjust to wild fishy villains like this
- whether I should have pushed the flop or not
- bet sizing on turn (or not)

Thanks guys

I wouldn't raise otf because I don't think there's a lot, or any, FE. Who r/f's flops? And with the straight outs, those will get paid off, so I'm not folding either. A bare non-nut flush draw might be a b/f but with the disguised outs, I'm fine b/c'ing.

The Ad helps and hurts. It helps because we know we're good. This means the best fd V could have raised was QJdd. And it seems unlikely he's raising a non nut flush draw with an overcard on the board. You know more than we do but seems unlikely to me for those reasons. So the Ad gives us confidence in having the best hand. It hurts because what else can V have? Kx or 44 or 55. Kx isn't continuing now that an overcard hit and the flush came in (except AK but that's probably played differently pre?) and against the sets we need to price them out from chasing a boat. So eff stacks are $570 and the pot is $520. V is 20% to boat. So $173 gives V indifferent pot odds to chase a boat IF we don't give him any implied odds. Obv, he'll call more than $173 but you need to be careful about committing yourself. I.E., if you bet $400 and it gets called, then otr the pot is $1320 and you have $170 left, are you ever c/f'ing? Probably not. So it's a tricky amount, but you need to be more than $173 (to price out a set) but it needs to be low enough that you can get away from the hand if the board pairs otr. It depends on how confident you are in V having 44 or 55. If you're 100% confident, then bet as high as you want but c/f the river if the board pairs. I'm pretty confident: Kx isn't continuing, 8-, 9-, T-, J-, Q- high flush draws probably aren't raising because they can be up against a nfd which will shove back at them otf (that would just be so bad and you're saying this guy's a solid player, it'd be awful to reopen the betting with less than the nfd and no pair because it'd pretty much be a bluff, better is playing back at him and worse is folding), so I can't think of much besides 44/55/maybe 45s. So I'd bet w/e you think he'll call with a set.

Raise or fold pre. Calling Villain's preflop raise is terrible. I hate the lead on the flop because sometimes we only have 6 outs to improve. Sometimes we get raised by bigger flush draws.

What is villain's range preflop? Is he only opening value hands like this for 6x? Is he opening small pocket pairs like this? Suited connectors? What do you think his raising range on the flop is? Is he doing this with a flush draw? AK?

Fold pre. The whale is only 3 seats to your right. Be more patient and play SC when you have position on him and the rest of the table. Definitely fold to the preflop raise.

Check-raise the flop. V will almost always continue and we're ok getting a free card if no one bets. Assuming V cbets about $120, I'd c/r to about $500 and obviously stack off against a call or reraise.

Leading is terrible because hero risks V and others just calling. Then hero is OOP in a huge pot and only has six outs to the nuts. Not good. As played, hero gets a gift with V's raise. Trivial reraise shove for hero. I don't understand calling the raise at all. Hero gets zero fold equity by calling and can only win by hitting a draw.

Turn is again a shove as played.

How do you flop an OESD/FD and just call the flop raise, expecting a "good" V to pay you off if you hit OOP?
