Def check on the flop. You want him to barrel with hands like AQ/AK. You can definitely get it in either as a check raise on the turn or jamming the river. Never ever folding here: he's a lot more likely to have AA/KK/QQ than 99 in this spot.

Welcome to the site fellow noob!

Have you read any NL poker books? Others might have recommendations but I'd perhaps start with Harrington on Cash Games (I & II).

Don't take offense, but this hand illustrates two very obvious errors (calling off large percentages of our stack preflop with a speculative hand OOP, and considering folding a set with a small stack on a non-scary board) and a third one I would also consider an error (betting a monster into an aggro instead of letting him bluff off chips with a small stack that can easily go in whenever we want). We all make mistakes (I know I do!) but if this hand is typical of your play then you're probably making a whole lot that you are unaware of. But stick with the forum and you'll get better - although you might have to grow a thick skin!

I have folded second nuts on the flop before...

Let me give you the exact conditions.

Villain was the nittiest Mcnitty nit in the universe. She would c/c down with top two pair, she would c/c down with middle fullhouse, she would fold AA and KK overpair heads up whenever someone bet big into her on turn or river, she would c/c down with bottom sets...

She was the scaredest, nittiest money i've ever seen at the poker table. The only time she ever ever EVER raised was when she had the stone cold nuts.

So, i'm in a hand with her, 3 way, she was the preflop raiser, I call, another Villain calls.

I flop middle set. First V leads out for pot, I call, she raises, he calls, I snap fold....

Hand plays out, she flopped top set and had the nuts come river

That is the only time I have ever made that fold and she is the only person in the universe I will ever fold a flopped set to. Everyone else, including your situation, is an easy snap shove.

In fact, there would be a loud "sonic boom" as I shove my chips in because I just couldn't get my money in fast enough
