600NL, Kiwi pwns me? 600NL, Kiwi pwns me?

First off, I think Kiwi is really really good. I've looked him up in spots before where I thought he was floating/FOS, and he had it every time.

His range for flatting my 3bet of an UTG raise is fairly small. When he calls my cbet I think we can rule out QQ,JJ etc.

Anyway, I was torn between bet/fold, check/fold, check/raise on the turn.

Thoughts?

Pre Flop: ($9.00) Hero is MP1 with A A
UTG raises to $12, 2 folds, Hero raises to $48, 1 fold, CO calls $48, 4 folds

Flop: ($117.00) 3 4 K (2 players)
Hero bets $72, CO calls $72

Turn: ($261.00) 8 (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $174, Hero ?????

Also, the reason I 3bet pre was because the UTG raiser is fairly nuts and has a 25% fold to 3bet over >1k hands.

I don't know Kiwi. But I'm assuming he wouldn't cold call w 33, 44 or 88. And that he would take the same line with KK+, AK. So there's 1 way to get AA, 3 ways to get KK, and 6 ways to get AK. Basically, you are a 2 to 1 favorite to be ahead. If you think we can rule out all other hands, then the river can't hurt you, so shove turn or bet river depending on what you think will get called. I lean towards shoving the turn.

do you mean check/shoving? thats pretty bad as it gives villain the chance to fold AK.

dont know this villian but is he really coldcalling AK here? i mean an UTG raise of somebody who calls 3bets light followed by a MP 3bet doesnt look particularly weak. but what is UTGs PFR?? if UTG is raising light i would expect villian to 4bet AK. if he is raising tight i would expect villain to fold AK. given the flop action i tend to think he has either KK or the other AA...

I see a lot of people cold calling AK, esp since pfr has yet to act. But obviously this particular decision depends on Kiwi's range.

Hope you don't mind a micro stakes player asking a few questions.

Should we be betting the flop here if he wont call with less than KK AK?

Is your 3bet range wider due to the player in UTG?
If yes, would this not make Kiwi's calling range wider?

Nittastic, if he only calls a flop bet with AK KK (assuming he can have both these hands) then it's a +EV bet. We also need to bet to balance our range since we would do the same with many of our other hands and complete bluffs. If we only cbet air or the nuts, we'll be very exploitable and we want to be able to vbet thinly.

In 3bet pots I basically always go broke with aces unless the board comes off reaaallly bad, since if people setmine against my 3bets they're burning money anyway and this prevents me from making a major mistake. I'd bet 160 on the turn and shove river.

As played, I crai.

I don't get it, is this REALLY supposed to ever be something other than a c/shove?

If you put him on KK, just check/fold the flop or hope for a check behind and spike an ace.

Bet/bet/bet imo.
Another line : bet/overbet.
Or the sexy CMR flop/shove.

Agreed. I 4th leveled myself into putting him on exactly KK. Then after I folded, I felt like an idiot and decided to post the hand for public berating as a form of punishment.

Why he should bet here with AK or with set?

ok you're right, he's flatting a nit who 3b an UTG open and then floating to make moves vs a nit. Kiwi almost never has AK or air.

and no offense BMD, i've spewed more to you than i care to think about in the past few days. But I still know you're a nit I just can't help myself

I would have b/f the turn and re-evaluate on the river if he calls. It's clear that he's got AA/KK/AK. From his prespective (depending on your table image) your pre action could be QQ/JJ with a c-bet on the flop, hence betting AK on the turn makes sense if that's his read.

Checking the turns a mistake, if he called a bet on the turn you can narrow it to KK if he's decent as you claim
