This seems like a clear call to me and a well-played hand, with the possible exception that you should have raised more pre (wouldn't have done any good here against the pocket pair though). Good check on the river to control the pot and induce a bluff with busted draws. As has been said, you were near the top of your range and villain happened to get lucky.
