Have been at table for 45 min or so. Have won a few pots but have not gotten out of line. Haven't played with these guys in a while but know I am viewed as a solid aggressive player.

Buy In $300 to $500, I bought in for $500

Villian 1 ~$225, MP2 History
Villian 2 covers, MP3 No history
Hero ~$425

Table has generally been loose passive PF with the avg. raise required to fold out hands has been $25 or more.

4 Limpers to me. I limp with K Q, thought about raising but didn't want to balloon the pot. Button folds and both blinds check. 6 players to the flop.

Flop ($30)
K T 4

Checked around to Villain 1, he bets $40, Villian 2 calls. Hero raises to $120. Villian 1 folds and Villian 2 calls.

Villian 1 is capable of representing any range hands given it was checked around to him. EP and MP limpers have been betting any part of flop. Narrowed down Villian's 2 range to KJ,KT,QJ,44 and FD

Turn ($310) Q

Villian 2 checks, I shove. When he checked I put him on KJ or K10. Didn't think he would check set in that spot given how drawy board was. He takes almost 5min to call. Since I didn't get insta called I knew I was ahead. He nearly folded his hand 2x's and finally before he called he mentioned to me this is a tough decision. He called showing me 44 for the set. Turn was a 6.

Game over!

Have been thinking about this hand and how it played out. Feel like I could have checked behind on the turn but didn't want to give him a free card if he infact did have a draw nor did I want a scare card to come off on the turn to shut him down. I just can't see how I could get away from this hand after the turn w/o any history on Villian 2

Like it or hate it and why.

I never give him a set here, but a straight! I like checking behind not building the pot too big. So i think I call/check behind a river bet, if river scares I like a herofold.

You should not be raising the flop if you think you want to check this turn. Also I hate the flop raise size.

Rethink why you played this hand the way you did. What your wanted to be the result of your actions....

while it is true live players like to call on their draws, I don't see a player calling a c/r with the gutshot. I think it was played fine. No way you're getting away from top 2 with that pot size and chip stack

Why I played the hand this way was that on the flop I knew that Villian 1 was capable of running a bluff or betting second pair. When Villian 2 flat called I really couldn't give him a big hand (most likely some sort of draw) I raised to take the hand to squeeze the original raiser and if I got called from V1 I was in position to play the turn accordingly. I fully expected Villian 1 to fold and frankly Villian 2 just flat calling concerned me a little. As I stated I put him on a OESD or FD, AK, K10 or a long shot of 444. I felt comfortable he was not calling with AJ b/c I was not deep enough to make that a +EV call. When he checked the turn to me I put him on making a loose call with KJ or AK. Felt he would have raised a set on flop or at least bet into me with his set on the turn. Figured he may pay me off with KJ but more likely he would pay me off with K10.

Is my thinking flawed?

As long as you max rebought after the hand, you played it fine. I would raise PF but I'm assuming you're worrying about your turn play and as played it was fine. You just ran into a weird spot with a pretty bad opponent, stop being results oriented.

I hate checking turn behind there - you are ahead of basically everything and it's a drawy board. There is almost 0 chance he has a straight, btw. lol at tankcall by him.

Sometimes in poker you make a good second best hand, and someone gets all your chips. This is more likely to happen when playing medium-short stacked for <100BB.

I would've raised pre, and reraise/shoved flop, fwiw. Raising a bunch of loose passive players in position is definitely +EV. If you do this, the hand plays much easier.

4 limpers, 5XBB+4BB=9BB, pop it to 45$ preflop

As played on flop, your line is fine. KT would've prolly shoved, a set would've prolly shoved as well, that leaves you with QJ, KQ, or maybe KJ (you beat all of them that's good). turn Q, I doubt he called your raise with a gutshot so the move is fine. However you were unlucky to find a player nitty enough to put you on a set of T's or K's.
