Hi 2+2ers!

I'm looking for some feedback on a hand I played last night. Blinds are 5/5 but the game is playing bigger. I don't have any info on villain, first time playing with him. Looked like a regular to the game, was playing TAG.

Villain is playing 400bbs and I cover him.

The hand:

UTG straddles 10
UTG+1 raises to 30
Hero reraises to 130 from the cutoff with QhQs
Big blind cold calls 130
UTG calls 130

Pot 405
Flop: QdJd5h

BB check
UTG check
Hero bets 150
BB calls
UTG folds

Pot 705
Turn: 4d
BB check
Hero bets 250
BB raises to 900
Hero calls

Pot 2505
River: 2d
BB jams allin for 900 more
Hero folds.

------

What I am wondering is:

Should I be c-betting flop more polarized? i.e. less hands and bigger sizing
Should I check back the turn? I'm thinking no because there's to many hands that I'm beating even though we're deepstacked.
Should I shove the turn? My line of thinking was that if I shove I get called by all the flushes and fold out all the bluffs. But considering how little (relatively speaking) he had behind, I'm thinking a shove might be better. As he was not the type to barrel here holding no equity. I'm thinking his bluffs come from Adx which is close to being pot committed when I shove.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Fun one. I think jamming turn performs better if we think he has bluffs. I don’t hate your line tho

Super wet board with top set I bet my big draws and nutted hands pot. As option #2 it would be better to x/r here instead of 1/3 bet since the flop is likely to hit BB or UTG's hand. I know you have top set but with 5 people seeing a flop I would still x/c turn when the flush hits.

i check turn, you have top set, once that turn comes not many worse hands are left that call, plus you get into gross spots like this

id much rather bet turn with middle set here although even that is prob questionable

if you're worried about metagame you could always check the nuts here and allow weaker flushes to bet so you can c/r

Your preflop size is huge for an in position 3bet. It would keep it less than 4x, more than 3x. 4-6x out of position. Flop I lean towards bet small (like 1/4)or check because it is multiway. Probably mainly betting because flush draws and straight draws are out there, and so is JJ whcih we want to build a massive pot against. But I feel like we should check top set sometimes since we block top pair and so we can protect our checking range. I would probably lean more towards betting middle set in general. You can balance your betting range by betting some draws, but basically you want to bluff a lot less multiway, so you also want to check a fair amount of your draws to realize equity. You're going to want some flush draws then some hands like AdKx, and some hands with no diamonds like KT so you have bluffs on all runouts. Overpairs and one pair hands probably want to do a lot more pot control multiway in general. They do well calling or betting on later streets, but get uncomfortable playing for stacks.

Turn I would go half pot after betting flop, and then close between call and jam over a raise, could mix I guess. We are so high up in our range with top set. We want to get value, potentially before another diamond rolls off. Also, we want to have boats in our range on the river when board pairs and not just flushes. Our hand is very face up if we always check turn with sets and then bet/raise a paired board on the river.

River is unfortunate, probably just a fold.

I had a similar 2/5 hand a few weeks ago that I almost posted here. I played it similar to how OP did. V was loose and over-valued her hands.

I got the same sick run-out and folded my set of Queens to river aggression. V had two pair and bluffed me, representing the flush.

Anything can happen in live poker but I still think H has to fold river against the population without a great read.
