Thanks for the kind words dgaf. This actually came up a couple days ago with someone who plays very seriously but gives absurd action. He asked a straightforward question (which I'm sure he knows the answer to off of the felt) and giving a simple genuine response was the way to go.

I just finished season 2 of narcos. excellent show.

That's how we are more likely to sit down and play HU; because the Pro convinces us that the edge is overstated. Much more appetizing approach than to try to convince or otherwise intimidate into knowing how much better the Pro actually is. Unless the Rec has a crazy-big ego, and I know there are a few of them around (obviously requires the exact opposite approach), that sort of talk/attitude makes us want to run away.

nice post. I think that any rec player who wants to get involved in lots of hands, be floaty/creative/bluffy, gamble it up, etc will have a lot more fun playing shorthanded. If your vpip shorthanded = your vpip full ring, you'll probably have a higher EV shorthanded. There are also plenty of live pros who have never played heads up online (like myself). I'll happily play heads up, even though I can honestly say that I don't think my edge would be very large.
