5/10NL Live, Turned the nuts?? 5/10NL Live, Turned the nuts??

I've been really active preflop recently, so I decided to slow down this hand.

Villain in the big blind is LAG-maniac'ish but is pretty good at reading hands, and knows that I don't mind calling an overbet if I think I'm winning, and has had trouble trying to bluff me in the past. His preflop raise size is indicative of a hand trying to build the pot, because he definitely would have raised more with a hand like AKo or JJ+

Villain(BB) - $950
Hero(BTN) - $1400
UTG - $1000
MP - $800

Hero has 7 9

Preflop ($15)
UTG calls $10, 2 folds, MP calls $10, 2 folds, Hero calls $10, SB calls $5, Villain raises to $40, UTG calls $30, MP calls $30, Hero calls $30, SB folds

Flop ($170) A J 10
Villain checks, UTG checks, MP checks, Hero checks

Turn ($170) 8
Villain bets $100, UTG folds, MP folds, Hero calls $100

River ($370) 4
Villain goes all in for $810 ... ... hero?

Normally the HUGE over bet on the river is an equally huge hand but given your reads of him being a LAG-maniac i believe this is a pretty easy call.

raise turn, your hand is disguised and you dont want to see a K or Q on the river or even paired up board and face a shove. his pf raise size suggests that he's fishy, and if he's as good at handreading as you say then he knows that people check back this flop with all kinds of draws and made hands knowing that this is a bad flop for him to cbet if he'd missed. so therefore the fact that he bets out smallish on the turn that completes a bunch of things and puts more draws on the board weighs his betting range more towards a made decent hand than total air IMO, which means a raise for us here is correct.

well, I think based on the description, AA and JJ should be removed... Giving him 10's and 8's.

Board: As Jc Td 8h 4d
Dead:
equity win
Hand 0: 46.154% 46.15% { 9s7s }
Hand 1: 53.846% 53.85% { TT, 88, KQs, Q9s }

Facing a 2.1x PSB? I didn't fold fwiw, just throwin' it out there.

edit:... yeah, and I'll raise the turn next time lol

meh i don't think you can eliminate AA

either way, its pretty impossible to put you on a straight or a set, so he should be value betting a lot of worse hands than the second nuts.

Kind of a weird spot. It really feels like he has the stone cold nuts, with the check on the flop the bet on the turn and river shove to look like a bluff and get a call from 2 pair or even a set with the third nuts here it is not as easy a call as every one else thinks after tanking for a minute or two i call and expect to be shown JJ lol

Would this Villain raise KQ to $40 PF when he's sure to be OOP against 3+ runners? Feels like 8's or 4's, no? Not an easy call but I make it.

yea, he's big on building the pot with good multi-way hands, suited connectors including KQs... I didn't even exclude Q9s (also a straight) which would also make sense on the flop check, turn feeler bet, river smash bet... but you're right that my hand doesn't look like a straight except maybe KQ... the fact that I could have KQ though is what made this hand kinda strange.

your hand is under-repped ... if he has exactly KQ or Q9, good for him but i call this spot unless ive seen him overshove with the nuts before

I called, he had KQs... I'm pretty sure I'd call it again though... Just made me sick, cuz I did actually take the full 30-45 seconds to consider folding cuz "I FELT IT" bblahblahblah... but still called cuz his range def. could have been 10's and 8's maybe J's ... and very rarely maybe AA's (because I think he'da made AA's like $65+ preflop instead of $40) ... neways, I'll get em next time I'm sure... he sux!

Villain pf raiser didnt bet this flop?? man he sure knows how to build a pot by leaving it till riv to make the overbet lol.

You still had to raise this turn though, your hand is vulnerable to a lot of cards on the river.
