5/10, 10 handed, pretty loose table.

UTG (decent, pretty solid player) opens 40
HJ calls 40
H (stack ~1500) on CO raises 160 with QQ
Btn (very loose reg, with a very big stack) flats 160
SB (very short stack) is AI for 140
BB (loose/fish) shoves for ~500
UTG over-shoves for ~700
HJ folds
H ???

If you notice it's a pretty loose table then I'm sure UTG notices it also and could be shoving weaker than us. $1700 in the pot and $540 for you to call. You need 24%. With QQ you should have enough equity. Also it's only 70BBs effective. I would call and be ready to top up after losing lol.

Seems like a great game.
Easy shove.

I jam, it's only 130 more bb's and the only one I'm worried about slightly is UTG but the other guys make it worth it even if we later find out it was just a set mine.

Price is too good and hand is too strong. Shove.

I'd be surprised that AA/KK flats $160, so not too worried about the loose reg.

Hope it's not a cooler. But even so, we'll flop a set sometimes.

I would flat to let the whale in and shove every flop.

Honestly this is probably best move. Flop comes low like 237 and he's just gonna have to go with 100% of his hands anyway

Yes, flat and bring in the whales seems like a perfect play.

Does whale cover us?

You shove A and K high flops?

Yeah whale has heaps. We’re committed and he’s gonna have trash like 97 that will make 2nd pair and call off even on A high boards. I assume anyways, says very loose.

Variance, be damned. I'm on board with it but I know I will hate myself when he hits his funky 2pr on the turn / river.

Yes, BTN is the big stack at the table, running very well.
He's very loose, too loose to be profitable in the long run imo, but definitely not a whale.

Then shoving might be better.

Assuming you just call and BTN calls the main pot will be around $2800, and with only $800 effective behind for the side, you will be committed on a lot of flops. You should probably find the check/fold on AKx board, I guess.

But what about an ATx flop? Would you find a check/fold there? Or on KTx are you check/folding, check/calling, or jamming?

I don’t really know the answer. I’m not confident in my ability to work it out right now, and certainly not in a live setting.

If you don’t know the answer either, it means to me that you’re somewhat frequently going to find yourself in a postflop spot that has you confused. When you feel confused, there’s a risk that you will make a mistake.

Of course, that cuts both ways, and maybe the BTN is the one who will make a mistake. But, I would argue that given the BTN has position, there’s reason to expect his mistakes will be slightly less costly.

In general, I prefer making simple +EV decisions preflop rather than trying to squeak out an edge that may not actually be that substantial. Sure the BTN could flat some garbage for $700 that he would otherwise fold for $1500, but, absent strong evidence for that, I’d just take the simpler move and jam.

Honestly if you're asking this question, then why are you playing such high limits? Seriously, this isn't a difficult decision here. Are you someone with a very high income? Otherwise, you really should be playing lower limits to learn. If you're making bank and playing for fun, this is your dream situation. You call off only a grand and you might win 4 and it will be fun. If that's not you, play 1/3 and learn. If you make $250k+ and play this for fun, then have it at. You have a great starting and it'll be fun.

Completely unnecessary and unhelpful. We post hands not always because we don't know what to do or need help, but to share what is happening out there and get different opinions on how to play a hand. This is strategy. Please do better.
