I live in West Texas and the only cash games bigger than 1/2 are $5 or $10otb games where the button is the only blind. Has anyone played this format before? Would it play similar to a traditional 2/5 or 5/10 game? What adjustments would I make if not

You probably need a rather large bankroll as these texas games are nuts - but they are full of whales - at least last time I played there, and what I see on stream games that was the case.

I played 1/2 and won $3000 in a week there - the play was just horrific. The low rake structure, and the spewy play helped a ton.

I don't know what you mean by traditional 2/5 or 5/10 - games play different based on your demographic. For what ever reason, games are vastly different around the country.

I would assume that if it's the biggest game at the club - it will play like a $1000+ cap 2/5 or $1500 cap 5/T but they can always play bigger and more splashy - especially if they have side games like bomb pots, and double boards.

For adjustments, I dunno - just play your standard opening range from GTO to start and adjust from there. If they are really off the rails, just start buying in shorter and re-jam with 77+ pre to those random 3b they are making and play tighter as you get deeper.

Plays similar to 5/10, and still going to be am insanely good game because it is Texas BUT...

The button blind is terrible for the game. The UTG and UTG +1 which would have been the SB and BB are now the tightest positions imaginable. Even tighter than in button straddle games because they get a horrible price. That said, their EV should go up because they are no longer paying the blinds, but every other positions EV goes down because they have to play out of position so much more often than when the blinds and straddles are up front. They should play tighter and they should bet less often and for smaller size on the flop. You can't cbet tons vs the button when they call like you can against the BB.

We are kind of incentivized to raise larger with a tighter range preflop vs the button to give them a worse price to continue. In theory, in a normal game, optimal open sizings sizings are between 2x to 2.5x from UTG through the button, and SB is about 3x. CO and button get to raise larger because of their positional advantage and because they face less players left to act. SB raises larger because they are OOP to the BB and don't want to give the BB too good of a price.

So it stands to reason that we want to raise larger against button blind than we would against a normal 2 blind structure. My play is to raise on the smaller side for live poker. In 2/5 I will 3x the blind from any position, but in 5/10+ or any time the straddle is 10 or higher, I will go 2.5x anywhere except when I am out of position to the blind or straddle (in the blinds), where I will go 3x.

That said, my raise is on the small side. Most people crushing these games are usually going 3x or 4x. Some 3x from IP and 4x OOP, especially when there are multiple up front restraddles. I like the smaller raise size of 2.5x IP and 3x OOP, especially vs up front straddles because I get a great price for my mediocre hands like SC, people are supposed to continue from the blinds/straddle with a lot of trashy hands and they will make a lot of mistakes.
