Relatively new table...2 must move tables so players are shifting around quite a bit. Never seen/played with villain before.

Hero ($1000) - 30 year old white male...probably seen as solid TAG image. Raised a few hands pre in late position and took down with c-bet. Has been speaking to some players/dealers so villain likely knows Hero plays here quite a bit.

Villain ($1800) - late 20's-early 30's white male. TAG-LAGish...3 bet a couple of hands within 20 minutes and took down with a c-bet. Assuming he's a pro in town for the tournament series...

Fold around to Hero in HJ who raises it to $40 with AJ. Villain calls from button...both blinds fold.

Flop ($95) - J86

Hero bets $55...Villain calls.

Turn ($205) - 9

Hero checks...V bets out $115...Hero thinks for a bit (grabs some chips like he might raise) but calls.

River ($435) - A

Hero???

On the turn, I really didn't think V had much off demeanor and bet sizing...know that he was capable of putting me to a tough decision if I bet out on turn and simply didn't want to play for stacks with TPTK on this runout. Plan was to check/call any non-club river...should I continue with this line now that the A hits?? or should I feel comfortable bet/calling any raise??

Thoughts on all streets appreciated...

Bet/Calling kind of sucks. He's going to value own you a lot when he has clubs and give up on turning small pairs and random air into bluffs. Your line looks like you're scared of clubs, so the river is an easy bluff spot for him when checked to with almost all of his range.

Also, 65-70 on this flop.

I'd just keep betting every time it was my turn.

This is the right idea; I would take it one step further. I'm going 80 / 200 / 680 on brick runouts.

c/c as played. villain will probably never value raise worse so your ev for bet/calling hasn't changed.

100bb poker should be much more simple than this.. if you're gonna open 4x then just keep betting big postflop when you have it.

Betting turn seems very optimistic.

Don't do this - it looks just like how you feel, weak and unsure of your hand.

Agreed with bigger flop c-bet, I always go bigger with wetter boards. As played, I would check/call turn with the intention of reevaluating on rivers. River gives us top 2, so now we beat all other 2 pair combos. I'd probably bet/fold river against opponents who can't bluff raise river spots(sometimes we will obv be value owning ourselves but whatevs). Against trickier villains who might barrel missed draws/bluff/value bet worse hands, I would usually just check/call and sometimes just check/fold depending on their bet sizing/game flow dynamics.

this ...

b/f the river ...V would rarely bluff raise here... so bet for value, and if raised, it's a safe fold ..

B/f river is terrible. Hand is played fine and c/c river depending on sizing.

this and anything else is spew imo

the posturing to give off that you are thinking about raising is something I would read as weakness, but you could just balance that so it doesn't matter so much... I just wouldn't do it unless I was sure I was balanced or I knew I could own him with doing something like that

check/soulread riv. are there donkeys in sb or bb? do you have any idea of what his cold call tendencies? assuming standard live ranges you can prob just fold to a large bet and call down against smaller bets without any further reads

Betting turn seems pretty mandatory, how many people saying they would check turn are double barreling air on the turn? Tx? My guess is not many because it is a ****ty turn to double barrel because you are getting called by so many pair+draws, so lets keep betting when we have a hand that beats all single pair hands villain can have.

If we get raised we can comfortably fold.
