Button - $3000 - solid , mid age, Rec player ,

Hero - $2000 - in BB

No history between us.

Button raises 40, I 3b to 130 with As 2s, he calls. Heads up.

Flop: Ks 2s 8c
I bet 140, he goes " what?? 140??" Seems Surprised, calls.
Turn: 5d. He calls my 270 bet.
River: Ah

(Thoughts on sizing ?)

River : Hero should bet or check to induce ?

The hand should be voided.

There is 2s in that deck.

Why did you 3 bet pre?

Pretty easy bet fold vs this player. I don't think it is terribly close.

On second look, you have the 2s and there is a 2s on the flop so we got a bit of a problem.

I 3b pre here 50% of the time

Villian was opening >50% of his hands on button.

Is flatting better pre , OOP?

3betting is fine. Obviously villain and game flow dependent, but in general don't mind the 3bet with this hand. River is easy bet, I would size on the larger side, 3/4.

grunch

I hate pre. Much prefer to 3b this hand in position vs UTG opener. From blinds i prefer to have my 3b bluffs to have more board coverage and be less likely to be dominated, like suited connectors.

Flop i think bet bigger because the K hits your value range pretty good. I would bet halfpot on like a paired board.

As played I like turn barrel but no comment on sizing right now bc too lazy to think about it / not really sure. I usually just go 2/3 pot here.

River is really interesting to think about. He is quite weak here (KQ/KJ/QQ/spades) and the Ace hits our range super hard. In this spot I think a smallish half size pot bet/fold is good to get the crying call from a K. IMO he has more marginal made hands than missed draws so I like betting small better than check to induce.

^ I thought the same at first (bet small to eek out value vs a king) but the btn vs bb dynamic is so degen that no one ever believes anyone these days. I'd rather make a bluffier looking bet once the ace hits rather than a small value bet imo

I just think his bluffcatching range is way too weak while a huge big part of our double barrel bluff range (Ax suited) just got there. If the board was more connected and he has smaller 2p in his range i like betting big as well.

Of course if we have some kind of read that hes a huge calling station then go for it as well, but i dont think its worth missing value
