Villian: Young, solid player, one of the top players at the table, probably views hero as the same... only thing perplexing is that earlier in the night, villian became a little short stacked due to random beats and did not re max to the 2k max, and just played with around 800 or so... but other than that, he seems like a young pro, did chat with him earlier and he indicated he plays a lot at that casino... current stack: $3600

Hero: Earlier in the night, hero picked up good cards and ran his stack from 2k to around 6.4k... however, within an hour ran into multiple sets and starting losing momentum and stack is around $3600 as well... have pretty much only shown strong hands, so image should be pretty TAG...

History: Not much, did double up villian when he was under 100BB stacked, 4 players to the flop, i (pf raiser) bet $200 into the $300 pot, he raised to $700 with a set and i put him all in for not much more with 2nd nut flush draw and missed and did not show... acted like i had aces...

The hand: all folds to old fish (not that deep), who limps, hero limps with 7-7, aggro semi decent player calls (deep), villian on button raises to $60, we all call...

Pot: $255
Flop: 9-7-4, 2 hearts... fish checks, hero checks, cutoff checks, villian bets $170... fish folds, hero raises to $550, cutoff folds, villian tanks and calls... (he usually takes his time with all action so this is nothing unusual that he thought before calling)

Pot: $1355
Turn: 6h, so the board is 9-7-4-6, with 3 hearts, possibly the worst card in the deck for hero... however, hero still wants to charge any over pairs with a flush draw and bets $700... villian again tanks and then calls...

Pot: $2755
Rivier: 8o, so the board is 9-7-4-6-8, possible flush, possible straight... hero thinks and checks, villian tanks and then pushes all in for $2200, essentially putting hero all in...

hero folds...

1) Do you agree the river is an easy fold? The only hands I beat are over pairs that decided to turn their hand into a bluff but I just don't see that given hero bet the turn...

2) What do you feel about hero's turn action? Do you advocate check/calling or even check folding?

3) I think pre and the check raise on the flop are pretty standard but please let me know if you think i definitely should have raised pre or led out on the flop... i felt like it was a good spot for villian to cbet...

I would iso the fish as a standard, but depending on game conditions limp is fine here as well. Idk what range you assign villain pre, but a standard raising range does not hit this flop texture so I would not expect too many cbets here. I would donk as a standard. I would play turn and river the same. I would also raise flop bigger, but don't think it's a big deal.

I'd would need some deep history/read to call this river. Having said that, if I was villian in this hand I would almost always be jamming this river once you check. It's just not a good spot for a good player to c/c unless you are sure you can induce. I think because of this an argument could be made for a 1/3ish sized blocker bet since the villian can easily have overpairs that picked up fd outs, and I don't think it would be outrageous (but not too likely) that villian can have a hand that beats you and still folds. Obviously this is less likely since he jams.

yea i didn't iso the fish because his stack is decently short and with a hand like 7-7 i can win a huge pot... plus, the cutoff is rather sticky when it comes to pre flop raises...

i thought about blocking on the river but when he calls my check raise on the flop and then calls my bet on the turn, i'm thinking he has a hand like a-khh or so...

I don't expect an old Live reg to turn OP's into a bluff so I'm not worried about that so I just c/f river.

It would be a tougher spot vs an aggressive young player.

Looks like villain turned two-pair into a bluff on the river. I would check call turn bet fold river against described villain.
