The cutoff posts. Folded to me in the hijack.

I have A6 and raise to $40. Cutoff, button and BB all call.

FLOP ($165, 4 players): A85

Checked around.

TURN ($165, 4 players): K

BB checks. I check. Cutoff bets $125. Button and BB both fold.

Cutoff is a tall fat early 30s white guy who smells like marijuana.

Why are we checking twice with top pair? I get maybe not betting the flop but turn bet seems mandatory.

If you bet $70 on the turn and one person calls in position, how do you play on a blank river? Check-fold?

I'm out of position, I'm repping exactly what I have, and if either the cutoff or the button calls, I'm not happy about it.

bet the turn and river - theres a number of hands you can valuetown that will check back the river if you c/c, and I dont think people are going to bluff enough.

Bet flop. If not betting the flop, bet the turn, for value.

You're not repping anything since you haven't made a postflop bet yet, if anything you are repping having missed that flop completely. OTT villain can easily be betting any king, eight, draw, or air. Easy call.

Maybe I'm just being results oriented.

Villain had AK and I check-called on the turn and check-called another $200 bet on the river. Afterward, I thought to myself "I should have folded on the turn because he was giving away the strength of his hand with his bet sizing."

Well check call was good and on river it smells like value.

after checking flop, c/c turn c/c riv > bet turn bet river, because the hands that call your delayed 2barrel are on avg stronger than hands that will bet 2 streets after you check the whole way.

i don't understand why you'd raise a hand like A6 if you're just going to play it like this..?

This hand would have made sense to raise if you had been the co and the post was in the hijack. As is you are going to get called a lot of the time preflop by the co and you have such a crap hand oop.

Bet the flop for value and also to make things easier. Checking to induce with a hand that doesn't really want someone to go crazy is tough business. If you were checking for pot control then that goes back to preflop raise.
