I’m having trouble balancing a delay cbet strategy, especially facing XR
Similarly, I like the idea of attacking delay cbets with a XR-> river bomb.

In this hand, if BB were to delay XR and then bomb the river, I don’t see how I could possibly MDF.

Is this just paranoia?

How do y’all defend your delay cbet ranges?

I think you need to pay more attention to the board texture. I don't play 5/10 so I don't know how good they are. If you had something, the odds would be high that you'd bet out with the potential FD out there. A good board would be something like K73r. Everyone puts you on AK pf when you raise pf. Therefore, it makes "sense" to them for you to slow play it. You'll also have to be prepared to fire two barrels to convince them you have something.

In my own experience I have not had this problem. When I check back the flop against an opponent who is aggressive enough to try this play, they usually bet the turn because they think I’m going to check again. I solve that problem by checking back 1 pair on the flop sometimes. And I think if you do this you will solve your problem too. (Alternatively if a reg sees that you can check back 1 pair on the flop, they will mess with you less on the turn most likely.)

For example, I don’t think it is terrible to mix in some checks with good overpairs here. You give your opponent’s air a chance to improve to a worse 1 pair and you can induce bluffs.
