Not sure if this hand has educational value because we are playing 3 rounds of deuce-7 for a $50 bounty from each player. that being said its pretty interesting

V1 has already picked up the bounty with a huge pre flop reraise
V2 is playing a lot of hands and not afraid to throw chips around. He's been on a roll. He 3 bet from the straddle in a hand a few orbits ago, flop was QQ7 and he won the hand with a cbet. He showed the table the Q but accidentally showed me and only me an 8, so he had Q8o. Another hand he smooth called from the straddle after I 3b a SB raise from the big with JJ. Flop was low, 2 clubs, I bet he called, turn Js, I bet he called, river K, I checked he bet, I shoved, he showed K3cc and folded.

That's basically the only hand I had the entire night that reached showdown besides him cracking my AA later on with 36s, again from the straddle. Lost a pretty good chunk there

Effective stacks are 4600 in the hand

V1 raises to 250 folds to hero on the big

QJdd

V1 standard raise size was 100, so obviously i ask him if he has 27 and he tells me he does, and i believe him

hero calls

V2 makes it 1K and v1 folds

how should we proceed?

Weird spot. It’s probably fine to fold to the 250 given V2’s tendency to squeeze. I don’t think we can profitably put in ~22% of our stack with QJs oop in what will become a super low SPR pot. Back raise shove is interesting and could work sometimes.

Re the backraise shove: you can credibly rep that you have a strong hand and planned to trap v1, especially given the ridiculous open sizing and the 7-2 discussion during the hand. If you get called, you have outs!!

Why wouldn’t we just 3-bet PF when it gets to us the first time?

Its funny cuz with his ridiculous preflop sizing he has 72 100% of the time unless he has somehow adjusted this sizing with QQ+ which i highly doubt , in order to maximise we should just call and let him barrel flop, turn, river.

So i prefer the call 250 preflop, we just need the guts to call off on AK986 with QJ high for 230bbs

As played yeah not much we can do but fold and on to the next hand. I understand he squeezes a bunch but its still a 10x open and you called so unless he’s a psychopath with zero game awareness, i’d just fold it.

Btw im also flatting the 250 with my entire playable range in that spot so v2 cant really exploit you.

One way to play this, in order to take away some of the positional advantage OTF of V2 is to flat the 1K and check in the dark.

If SPR was a lot higher going to flop then you are checking almost your entire range, but when you call pre with these stack sizes
you have an SPR of <1.5, so there will be some flops that you lead on.

Therefore a way of playing a balanced strategy OTF with a low SPR, so one that isn't telegraphing the strength of your hand, is to check in the dark,
which in a way will give you position as the villain now has to act first.

The disadvantage of this is that sometimes the villain will check back and improve or realise their equity on a flop that you may have led to bet equity or bet for value,
but even in those spots, because one street has now gone, it is now less difficult for you to play the last two streets perfectly with a <1.5 SPR from the turn, instead of from the flop.

I am not a NLHE expert but the above is perhaps a lateral thinking way of playing the hand that prevents you from giving up the $250
and that might make it difficult for the villain to make the correct decisions in the rest of the hand.
