I read a lot (all the highly recommended NL books including PNLH and HOCG vol. 1+2) and spend a lot of time on the forum and listening to good podcasts. I've been playing for 8 years, albeit I've only been a serious student of the game for less than a year. I'm not trying to toot my own horn here because a really an a humble person. But I have no doubt in my skill in comparison to that of the 1-2 game I currently play, which is pretty bad here in Florida.
Realise that you only actually have a year of practice if you say that you only took it serious for that year, don't play with money that's not yours, try to get a job, and play for a while just to learn

6k if you lose it throw away the books and any "dreams" of being a live grinder....

The people in this thread act like 8k is a lot of money. Some people in this country are hundreds and thousands in debt. 8k loan on a bankroll and keep your job is a winning strategy, you will be over rolled grinder status for 1/2 perfect scenario for this economy.
Lol, but thanks. I gotta pay the 6% no matter what, but that's only $480. So $8480 payback on 8k within three years. No monthly payments required. Its a really sweet deal. And yes, it seemed like a no brained to me too. Especially if I went ahead and made payments back each month. That's $235 a month, to be able to have a sizable BR. And if nothing else I got 3 years to grind out a $480 profit on 1-2. That's probably realistic.

I have 50 hours of live experience spread over 4 days, so I am not an expert but I feel I have good advice to give

I too HAD a 10BI bankroll at 1/2

I wasn't looking to get into huge variance play. I knew I passed up a few slightly +EV spots just because I couldn't handle the variance. So just go for fat value and don't try 3betting light planning on triple barreling against a tight opponent. Things like that.

And here is a test to really see if you are as good as you think. Play 100k hands at 10NL or 25NL online. See what your winrate is. These players are 10x harder than average 1/2 games. Now after you do this and see that you are are turning a profit, set aside 4 hours. Go sit at a 2NL or 4NL table and only one table. Single table 2NL for 4 or 5 hours straight and play well.

If you can do both these things, you can be absolutely certain that you are capable of beating 200NL live. GL

10 sessions and no wins. Simply do not take out a loan. Ur not winning yet. Study more and have a basis for what u plan on doing. I'm not trying to be harsh.

OP, the vast majority of the posters told you it was a horrible idea to take a loan out to play poker. You don't want to accept that excellent advice. There's nothing more to say. It won't matter how how big a loan you'll take out.
