Our standard middle-aged reg has either KK/AA or AA, he has zero combos of AK and on top of that likely couldn't accurately define combos or tell you how many there are of any given hand. It's a snap fold.

I've seen exactly 2 4bets in ~900 hours playing in this place that weren't KK/AA. One was 44 from a maniac bluffer and one was AKo from a solid younger player.

EDIT

Villain ranges for calling 4bets is completely different, which is why we should still 4bet with the nuts.

I would fold pre. If an unknown opens UTG and a guy who got stacked and has quieted down (which means he's probably tightened up and looking for a double up spot) 3-bets up front..I'm just done with it. AJ is my favourite hand but I need to be deep IP and comfy and I'm not deep nor IP nor comfy here.

AP to the flop I'm x/calling and probably okay with committing, depends on sizing. He's only got a little over 300 back and pot is almost 200... A jam is giving us about 1.5:1 but I think you'll be shown AQ and AK a lot if stacks are going in. I dunno. Could even nit fold flop but that seems pretty lame if we hit our A and fold. I think I play flop as a x/call for modest sizing.

One thing to consider is that V is a young guy who has been splashing slightly but not too out of line, and this post is from 2019.

WereBeer plays a ton of 2/3 in Australia and he is right that middle aged regs are not 4 betting AK
