Villain is not a reg, seems like a fish given his minreraise pf but generally unknown. What do you make of his betsizing?

If you call the flop, I hope you will snap call the turn.

Other option is to fold the flop, because he has AA/KK like always (or AK/JJ if he is really a fish).

Do not call preflop if you are not ready to play for stacks postflop, if you hit top pair.

Shoving the flop is pretty gross.

Flop is close depending on how bad he is but I'd usually call and you have to snap the turn once you call the flop.

You kind of answered my question in your last statement...but why is shoving gross if you're not going to call a turn bet? The turn bet will be for stacks of course. We also can't call pf unless we are going to stack off when we flop top pair. An A would be more favorable, possibly.

He could be way ahead. Some people play this way with AA/KK pf. The overbet on the flop is soooo ******ed. Weak players tend to bet like this to "protect" their hands, always missing value. There's only a straight draw on the flop...so there isn't much to protect against. He could just have AK or complete air.

I'm not really in love with it but I think we have to stack off here and that decision has to be made on the flop

this might sound kinda funny but if he'd made it $28 pre I'd be snapcalling and fistpumping all the way but because he made it $32 instead I think it's a really gross spot

people that bet twice the size of the pot are generally clueless about pretty much everything so it's tough to put them on a range. If he's bad enough to play an overpair this way then it seems like he could also show up with KQ or AK... sometimes might even see something like 99 that doesn't know wtf it's doing.

I'm generally not looking to get away from tptk in a CO vs blinds spot in a HU pot so the fact that someone shows such "obvious" strength doesn't necessarily actually look strong to me... but at the same time I'm concerned by the fact that unknowns usually don't put all their money in the pot without the goods.

Shoving the flop is bad because we lose value from a bunch of hands that will bluff the turn but may well fold to a flop shove. Really the only card we don't want to see on the turn is a king, so there's not a whole lot of reason to get the money in on the flop.

This would apply if he didn't minreraise pf, right?
