had a few month layoff so just getting back into swong of things, also mostly 6m backround so i tend to get money in lore often than i should i suppose. wasnt 100% sure what to do here.

villain is 14/9 with average aggression numbers over 1k+ hands. he looks to be repping either 22 or t9s which means im in trouble. im just wondering if guys like this will show up with other hands that put me into clear get money in spots.

UTG: $146.60
UTG+1: $76.00
MP: $408.50

Pre Flop: Hero is SB with 8 J
UTG calls $4, 1 fold, MP calls $4, 1 fold, BTN calls $4, Hero calls $2, BB checks

You can't fold here. Villain could easily be putting you on a jack with a weak kicker where you've bet to see where you are at. Thus he could be raising you with AJ or KJs or semi-bluffing with T9, flush draw or combo draw.

Re-raise is fine but you will probably be committing yourself.

Calling then donk-betting 3/4 of the pot on a safe turn works (any non-spade below 6, J, 8), same for a semi-safe turn like A or K. Shut down on danger cards like a spade or straight card.

Meh I probably just re-raise and stack-off here but I hate this spot.

Doesn't make sense to complete pre-flop if you're not going to get it in on this board. What are you hoping to flop?

I think he was hoping to flop J 8 3 apparently.

Borderline hand for me to complete, but if I hit this flop, I go for it.

You´re "only" a 1-5 dog if he has 22. I´m sure we all have made worse investments.

Isn't it kind of dumb to three-bet here? I mean he can't even have Jx of spades. So we're really just banking on him having the one or two combos 9T of spades or maybe QT of spades. Or do you think he felts the NFD? I think I like calling the flop better.

I would call and bet a safe turn. I think your hand range on him (22 or t9s) is too narrow.

I think reraising here against a solid player is just incredibly bad.

pf is pretty bad also but it might be sorta ok depending on how terrible the other two limpers are. and btw info on the first limper should help narrow the solid limper's overlimping range, for example I'm raising 88 vs a fish but against some nits/TAGs I'd limp it because I expect to get limp-reraised a lot, etc

14/9 i fold...

his range her includes 0 hands we dominate. going against combo draw/sets isn't too enticing. this is super marginal at best we're hoping to be up against a bare flushdraw but just fold your $20 investment and save that variance ride.
