Game is 1-2-2 NL, 5 dolla bring in. Table is mostly loose and aggro/passive, but most of the table are droolers. Hero has been playing tight and chipping up and only shown down strong hands (AK, JJ+, etc), has considered changing it up to be looser but decided table hasn't even noticed him being tight.

Villain is one of the most aggro at the table, has squeezed from the blinds multiple times, raises ATC, raises button, raises flop, etc. Most of his showdown hands he appears to actually have the goods, but he has raised enough pots to probably be stealing enough. He raises his strong hands as well. Recently got into (another) shouting match with another player over "fishy fishy" betting.

Comments on all streets welcome.

hero has 1600
villain covers
most other stacks 200-500.

Hero has 77 in lowjack, 1 limper, hero limps, CO limps, villain (OTB) raises to 30, BB calls, hero calls, CO calls.

887

Checks to villain, who bets 100, hero decides to slowplay and flatcalls, it's heads up.

J

hero decides to "weak lead" to induce either a bluff or look weak and get villain to raise, plus it looks weaker than another check/call and a C/R looks kind of scary on this board.

hero leads 100, villain glares, says "you trying to steal from me?" raises it to 300. I now put him on an overpair, a flushdraw, or possssibly an 8 (most unlikely).

What is the best line here usually? I feel a small raise is most optimal, if I raise big, live most players will suddenly realize what is happening and be able to fold an overpair or a FD, and i want those to stick around. If he has the FD and a shows up on the river I can probably take his whole stack. A call waiting for the river CR (if a spade shows) would be good too.

see spoiler for turn play and river card (no results)
Spoiler:
I min-raised to 600, he glared and called.

River: 8. Doh. I check, intending to fold to any significant bet (I have ~900 left)

I like the small raise idea, probably in the $400 range so that you aren't committed to risking the rest stack if the ******* card comes up on the river (case 8), but still allows you to extract value if he misses his FD on the river.

I think a small 3bet on the turn looks incredibly strong. From his perspective, if you had a naked 8 you'd probably raise big and push him off his draw. A small 3bet screams 'I have boat and want to build the pot some more without losing you.' I'd either put in a big raise if you think he's incapible of folding an overpair or just call if not.

I think discussing the river action would be really interesting because everything up to this point is really standard

So you think a check/fold (if villain bets large) is a reasonable course of action? Or is it a little too weak? I don't see much villain being able to stone-cold bluff a missed draw that big (esp live) for 200ish BB

I really like your line here. Only thing is you got exactly what you wanted, but now you don't want to 3-bet? 3-bet to 900ish, sets up a nice river push.

I don't like the passive line. IMO betting half pot on the flop is the way to go. You have a couple of players between you and the PF raiser, so you might get some dead money calls. If he (or someone else raises) you can 3-bet push and get the money in as a big favorite over pretty much every hand out there.

The weak lead on the turn after check-calling the flop is super transparent to anyone decent and paying attention. That's almost always a strong hand. When he raised you, I would guess that he has a strong 8 or had boated up. Only a really terrible player would raise there with a draw or overpair.

check/fold river as played.
